As for other things to consider before your tattoo appointment, Harris recommends showering first and avoiding drugs, alcohol, and intense exercise for 24 to 48 hours before and after. “We also recommend getting a good night’s sleep the night before and eating a healthy, nutritious meal at least three hours in advance,” says Harris.
