Todd’s School tar won the top prize at the 43rd London Critics Circle Film Awards on Sunday night, where it was named film of the year. Meanwhile, Cate Blanchett won actress of the year — her third time winning — and Field won director of the year.
by Martin McDonagh Inisherin’s Banshees is another major London winner, winning five awards, including the Attenborough Award for British/Irish film of the year, screenwriter of the year, actor of the year for Colin Farrell, and both supporting actor and actor. Supporting actress for Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon. Another Irish title, Quiet girlwon Foreign Language Film of the Year with a tie win with Park Chan-wook .’s dark thriller Decided to leave. Film Nan Goldin with Laura Poitras . theme All beauty and bloodshed was honored as Documentary of the Year.
The ceremony ended with the awarding of the Dilys Powell Award for Outstanding Film to film icon Michelle Yeoh, who accompanied her. Everything Anywhere All At Once co-star Ke Huy Quan. Danny Boyle paid tribute at the end of the night.
Also in attendance were Florence Pugh and Bill Nighy, both of whom were honored as British/Irish actresses and actors for their work in 2022. Pugh reunited at the event with her Marvel co-stars Tom Burke and Kila Lord Cassidy. There is also a reunion of Paul Mescal and Frankie Corio, who play father and daughter in sundown. Corio won a British/Irish child actor award for her performance, while Paul was present to accept writer-director Charlotte Wells’ Philip French Award for breakthrough British/Irish filmmaker.
The Technical Achievement Award went to Pinocchio by Guillermo del Toro for animation and collected by Gregory Mann, who voices the main character. British/Irish Short Film of the Year by Keeran Anwar Blessie A fox in the night.
The awards are chosen by the 200 member films of the Critics Circle, the UK’s oldest critic organisation.
