“When he’s healthy, we’re all fine” – Paulo Dybala honestly admits Argentina’s chances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Lionel Messi enjoying a ‘good start to the year’

With less than two months left for World Cup 2022, Argentina star Paulo Dybala has honestly admitted to Argentina’s reliance on their amulet Lionel Messi. The AS Roma striker admitted that the health of the whole team rests on the shoulders of the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) striker.

Lionel Messi met his international teammates earlier this week, as Argentina prepares to take on the last few matches before the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Messi and Co will meet Honduras for the first time on Friday night ( September 23) before playing against Jamaica on Tuesday (September 27).

Before the friendly match, Dybala talked to TyC sports, with the Argentine newspaper asking the Roma star to comment on Lionel Messi’s current condition. Dybala says:

“Leo (Messi) is doing very well. When he is well, we are all well. It’s great to work next to him and see him every day. Also, at the football level, he has had a good start to the year at his club.”

Messi is really in great form for the Parisians, he has played with 14 goals contributed (6 goals, 8 assists) in 11 games across all competitions this season.

La Albiceleste is heading to the 2022 FIFA World Cup after two consecutive victories. They won the 2021 Copa America in the summer of 2021 before winning the Finalissima title at the expense of Italy in June this year.

Dybala admits that Argentina’s recent results and Lionel Messi’s good form make them legitimate contenders for the World Cup, but rejecting the competition is obvious.

The former Juventus star added:

“The fact that Argentina won two titles in one year and they got so many positive results in a row makes people see it as a contender, but I think Argentina will always be a contender. and even more so with Leo.

“We have to be aware of what we can achieve, but we also have to be very careful because the World Cup is different.”
