What will happen to the game Bills vs. Bengals? NFL confirms canceled game status and Week 18
The NFL has confirmed that the suspended Monday Night Football clash between the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals will not take place this week. The game was postponed for the first quarter after the safety of Bills, Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after being hit in the chest while trying to block Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.
The NFL released a statement that read:
“The NFL continues to be in constant communication with the medical team caring for Damar Hamlin, as well as the Bills and Bengals organizations and the NFL Players Association.”
The federation also confirmed that it has not yet decided whether the match will be played at a later date:
“After speaking with both teams and NFLPA leadership, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell informed the clubs today that the Bills-Bengals match will not be resumed this week. The NFL has not made a decision. any decision on the possibility of resuming the match at a later date.”
Will NFL Week 18 Games Resume?
While the future of the Bills and Bengals’ suspended game is still unclear, the league has confirmed that Week 18 will go ahead as scheduled. Statement reads:
“The league is not making any changes to the Week 18 regular schedule. We will continue to provide more information as it becomes available.”
The NFL Week 18 action kicks off Saturday with the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Las Vegas Raiders, followed by the AFC South division title decision game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Tennessee Titans.
The Bills and Bengals are scheduled to go live on Sunday. Buffalo will host the New England Patriots, while the Baltimore Ravens visit Cincinnati. The final game of the NFL’s 2022-23 season is supposed to be an NFC North division battle between the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions. However, it will likely be the unfinished game of the Bills and Bengals.
