The first episode of WWE RAW in 2023 featured several major championship matches scheduled for the night. Seth Rollins challenged Austin Theory for his US Title in the show’s main event.
Bianca Belair and Alexa Bliss competed for the RAW Women’s Championship during the show. The match had an unexpected ending, and one of the superstars turned on his heel late in the game.
The Bloodline tried to take control of RAW this week and showed dominance by taking two big wins to kick off the year. Plus, Dexter Lumis won a match against Chad Gable to continue to build himself on the show.
The show had some good matches and the right segments to get fans excited about what’s to come. Check out five things WWE RAW has right on the show this week.
#5. The Bloodline gave WWE RAW a good start
WWE RAW starts with blood was in the arena. Usos, Solo Sikoa, and Sami Zayn say they’re taking over the show and continuing to destroy the scene for a while.
Kevin Owens appears to stop them, but Zayn tells him to mind his own business. This got Adam Pearce and some security personnel out, but The Bloodline refused to leave peacefully. Owens tried to get into the ring and knock down but was knocked down.
The RAW locker room is empty as the superstars rush out to stop the madness. When Bloodline finally withdrew, Adam Pearce announced that faction members would have to compete later in the show.
It’s a good start to the show’s first episode in 2023. The Bloodline has dominated SmackDown for most of last year. It makes sense for them to show up on RAW to try and take over.
Sikoa was set to fight Elias in Music City Street Fight, while Sami Zayn and The Usos battle Kevin Owens and The Street Profits later in the show.
#4. Alexa Bliss has finally given in to the dark side
Bianca Belair defended her female RAW championship against Alexa Bliss on this week’s show. EST soon took control of the contest and hit a big hit to take down Bliss.
The challenger responds with massive blows and a falling kick to stun the champion. EST showed off his prowess by hitting a great vertical backflip before sending Bliss into the swing.
The two women continued to fight before Bliss spotted a fan in the crowd wearing an Uncle Howdy mask. Just then, Bray Wyatt’s firefly icon flashed across the big screen, and Happy Alexa crazy. She attacked the referee before taking out her anger on Belair.
Bliss took the champion out into the ring and hit a DDT on the steel steps. The match was adjourned and Belair was defeated because of Bliss’ actions.
It’s good to see Little Miss Bliss finally turning its heels on RAW. It took a while for the story to unfold, but it finally happened on the first episode of the year. It will be interesting to see the role of Bliss in the relationship between Wyatt and Uncle Howdy.
#3. Solo Sikoa defeats Elias in Street Fight
A Music City street fight took place between Solo Sikoa and Elias on WWE RAW. The second one started strong and launched some big hits to put Sikoa in a difficult position. Elias continued to attack and nearly knocked his opponent out with his guitar.
The two men fought to get to the stage, where Solo gained the advantage. He went on to take down The Drifter and send him into several surrounding instruments. Elias hit Solo with the keyboard but was knocked down by Samoan Drop.
The Enforcer has continued to control the competition ever since, even after Musician Hardy tried to help Elias by giving him a guitar. Hardy escapes before Sikoa captures Elias with the Samoan Spike. He further offended the injury by hitting Spinning Solo on top of a piano on the sidelines before winning.
The match was very interesting as Elias had to place Solo with his foot after a while. Both men performed well, as the Executioner had to fight to win. Drifter is hoping to get some wins and better pre-orders soon.
#2. Bloodline won on WWE RAW
Kevin Owens and The Street Profits look to undo The Bloodline on WWE RAW this week. The two teams began to scuffle before the match started and The Bloodline took control after the opening bell.
The high heels isolated Angelo Dawkins for a while before Owens entered and broke through the ring. The Bloodline still defeated The Prizefighter and punished him in their corner.
Owens tagged in Montez Ford, who rolled and nearly won by knocking Sami Zayn. He hits some big dives and knocks out The Bloodline before Solo Sikoa sneaks in with a few hits.
Owens chased Solo, but the distraction allowed Zayn to land a Helluva Kick on Ford to win. After the match, The Bloodline knocked out the kids to prove their point.
Sheamus and Drew McIntyre emerged from the crowd and sent The Bloodline running to end the segment. The match was at a good tempo and there were a few good points.
Bloodline needed to win before defending the title against Sheamus and McIntyre. It will give them the momentum they need to successfully defend their title against Sheamus and McIntyre on Friday.
#first. Austin Theory and Seth Rollins had another solid match on WWE RAW
Seth Rollins is challenged Austin’s Theory for the US Championship in the WWE RAW main event. The visionary took control of the competition and made some big moves to put his young opponent in a difficult position.
Rollins tried to do a top rope move, but Theory counterattacked and it appeared The Visionary had injured his knee. The unproven reversed a lock bomb before taking the Falcon Arrow from the veteran. Rollins made a vertical tumble but missed a Champion’s Stall.
Theory tried to escape from the arena, but Seth chased him and brought him back to the ring. He hit a Superkick and Frog Splash to nearly fall. Rollins hit the pedigree one more time, almost falling and starting to get frustrated.
Theory hit a low hit while the umpire was distracted and knocked out Rollins’ injured knee before connecting with A-Town Down for the win.
The two superstars had another good match to show the fans how well they work together. Many fans wanted to see Rollins win, but it was the right decision to keep the title for Theory. He will likely enjoy a long reign that could see him face off against some of the top names on the show.
