XD Games recently announced that they are rolling out a new hero and major gameplay updates, as well as a global launch date for their ARPG, flashlight: Infinite. The game is in open beta, will launch worldwide and free to play on May 9 on PC and mobile devices. Its new parts, including the hero, launched at the same time as the game itself.
The new hero is a bomb-based character named Escapist Bing, a young prison escape artist. If he character trailers whatever happens, he can use his bombs to distract and hide as well as deal damage. In addition to Bing, XD is also rolling out updates to the existing hero Thea, including a new Hero Trait called Sacred Kingdom.
The other major gameplay change in the new season is called the Cube of Rapacity. With this new mechanic, players can loot mysterious blocks from certain enemies while exploring dungeons. The cubes, if given in-game currency, will give players the opportunity to award rewards, including puzzle pieces called Divinity Slates. When paired together, Divinity Slates will give users even more rewards.
In addition to the major changes, XD is rolling out a number of smaller updates, including a crafting overhaul, new player hero build recommendation features, nullification rifts, and a new Clan system. The game launches out of Early Access on Steam on May 9 and will also be further optimized for the Steam Deck.
