Three guilty of attempted murder after shooting and leaving teenage boy paralysed | UK News
Two men and a teenager were found guilty of attempted murder after a teenager was shot to death, leaving him paralyzed.
Zidann Edwards and Diago Anderson, both 20 years old as well as an unnamed 17-year-old, were found guilty on 2 August of attempted murder after a six-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court.
The 17-year-old was also previously charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life and possession of a prohibited weapon.
Footage shows Edwards, of Ford Street, Hockley, Anderson, with no fixed address, and the 17-year-old running from the scene and driving away.
They will be sentenced on October 7.
The shooting happened last November in a tunnel in Hockley Circus, Birmingham.
Edwards, Anderson and an unnamed teenager were protecting their neighborhood from a rival gang that led to the attack, the courts have heard.
Michael Duck QC, prosecutor, said: “The victim was in the wrong place at the wrong time, the target of the most brutal act of violence.”
The court heard how the victim and his friends were in the city and on their way for food when they were attacked.
Despite the victim’s injuries, he called 999 and told the ambulance service what had happened.
Detective Inspector Michelle Cordell, of CID Force, said: “The gratuitous and heartless actions of Zidann Edwards, Diago Anderson and the 17-year-old boy changed the life of an innocent 13-year-old boy and his family. the boy’s family forever.
“The impact of their actions was truly heartbreaking and my thoughts are still with the boy, his family and friends.
He added: “Our main focus has always been to prevent these incidents from happening, but sadly we continue to see gun violence on the streets.
