Thiago Silva: Chelsea defender out with knee ligament injury after limping against Tottenham | Football news
Chelsea have confirmed defender Thiago Silva suffered a knee ligament injury during Sunday’s 0-2 loss to Tottenham.
The 38-year-old centre-back limped off after just 19 minutes in the Super Sunday game and was replaced by Wesley Fofana.
Chelsea have not given a timeframe for his return but reports suggest the defender could be sidelined for up to six weeks.
A Chelsea statement read: “Injured to the knee during the first half of Sunday’s game against Tottenham Hotspur, Thiago underwent further evaluation and imaging upon returning to training on Monday.
“The scan results from those assessments confirmed Thiago’s knee ligament damage and he will now work closely with the club’s medical department during his recovery to return to action as soon as possible. maybe.”
