British culture department said on Twitter.

Queues to see Queen Elizabeth were temporarily closed on Friday after reaching capacity, the government said, as officials warned wait times of at least 14 hours.

“Entrance (queue) will be suspended for at least 6 hours,” Britain’s culture department said on Twitter. “Please do not attempt to join the queue until it reopens.”

The ever-moving queue is stretching from Southwark Park in central South East London to Westminster Hall, where a total of 750,000 people are expected to apply through the Queen’s coffin before Monday morning.

“I can’t feel anything in my knees or my legs,” said Hyacinth Appah, a mourner from London who was waiting in line.

“But it’s all right. Most of the people are lovely and we had a pretty good time.”

The queue was about 4.9 miles long as of 09:00 GMT, the culture ministry’s live queue tracker showed.
