The Babylon Bee Roasted for Cringe Attempt at Mocking Stephen King

Just released from prison Twitter after “Twit chief” Elon Musk my account has been restored Earlier this month, right-wing satirical website The Babylon Bee went to great lengths this weekend to prove that “The right is starting to get better at comedy and that worries lefties.”

The site considers itself a conservative version of onion, seems to be inspired Musk bought Twitter earlier this year when its official account was restricted for violating the platform’s policy on hate speech when it intentionally mistranslated Rachel Levine, a Biden administration official, as a transgender woman.

Instead of removing the offending tweet, the site’s chief executive Seth Dillon vowed never to take it down. Finally, after Musk completed his Twitter takeover, The Babylon Bee was allowed to continue posting and is now back tweeting about his brand of comedy specials.

Between sci-fi legend Stephen King happenning criticism about Musk’s tumultuous tenure as the owner of Twitter, the site decided to re-share a piece satirizing it published early this summer about famous author’s tweeting habits.

“Stephen King’s estate reveals he died years ago and his Twitter account is being run by a mentally ill parrot who enjoys sniffing glue with Tourette,” lengthy headline exploded in a tweet Sunday afternoon.

“Enter this little girl: Penny, a crazy blue-throated parakeet that regularly sniffs glue and has Tourette syndrome.” satirical articles claimed at a time. “Penny was hired to keep King’s Twitter account running with breaking political news and commentary on current events. She logs into his Twitter every morning and starts rambling like an absolute maniac about whatever the current topic is, or banging her keyboard to tweet something crazy about Trump.”

Needless to say, critics weren’t kind to this latest masterpiece by The Babylon Bee.

“Did a mentally ill sniffer parrot with Tourette write this?” IfNotNow Co-Founder Max Berger wonder on sunday night while The New Abnormal host Andy Levy added mockingly: “satire is my passion.”

Taken at another right-wing comedy show known for its laughter, Tonight’s program writer Chase Mitchell Good luck to the author in getting a job with Fox News’ Gutfeld.

Again Tonight’s program Meanwhile, staff members joked about the writing process behind the title. “I was in the scriptwriters room for this and they said every word we could think of had to be in the sentence,” Kylie Brakeman tweeted on Sunday night. “A guy actually said ‘pronoun’ but we used it for something else.”

David Roth, co-owner of Defector Media also mentions the notion that conservatives seem to have only “a joke” —and that the Babylon Bee was merely trying to prove that axiom false.

“The highlight of conservative comedy is reacting to the comment that they only have one joke by writing seven accents for each joke,” Roth wrote while suggesting they add, “…who identifies as a attack helicopter” to the end of the title.

Amid widespread ridicule, The Babylon Bee only added to the ridicule by posting another lengthy tweet explaining the joke.

“A lot of people are missing the joke here, so allow us to explain: it’s Stephen King’s estate revealing that he died years ago and his Twitter account is under control. operated by a mentally ill sniffer parrot with bracelets,” the account tweeted late Sunday night. “Hope this is useful.”
