Thai drug lords plastic surgery like Korean boys still arrested

He was arrested last week at an apartment in Bangkok
In a clever attempt to evade the police, a drug dealer in Thailand has undergone extensive plastic surgery to look like a Korean man. However, his efforts were in vain when he was arrested last week at a Bangkok apartment. The 25-year-old has now been charged with importing and possessing ecstasy (MDMA), a class one drug.
According to a BBC Reportedly, Saharat Sawangjaeng is trying to hide his true identity by using the alias Seong Jimin, a Korean name. He also underwent a series of surgeries that changed his facial features to the point of being unrecognizable.
However, the police still tracked him down by tracking the distribution of ecstasy to other sellers and buyers in Bangkok. Meanwhile, witnesses described him as a “handsome Korean man” to the police. Thai media reported that the police were shocked when they came to arrest Sawangjaeng because “no longer has his original face”.
When arrested, the man revealed that he wanted to “start a new life”. He added, “I’m bored of Thailand.” He also admitted to buying drugs with Bitcoin on the Dark Web and then selling them to customers in and around Bangkok.
Notably, he was arrested at least three times before his recent arrest. Once, the police found 290 ecstasy pills and 2kg of liquid drugs that he was in possession of. However, he was able to escape custody each time.
Police Major General Theeradej Thammasute called Sawangjaeng “one of the main causes of the MDMA outbreak in Bangkok”, reports The Straits Times.
Mr Thammasute added: “He was a drug lord who imported MDMA from Europe when he was 25 years old. We believe there are more suspects abroad. We will continue to investigate.”
The Thai government has cracked down on crimes like drug trafficking and use in recent years.
