Target vs Amazon

For budget-friendly swimwear (or ANY outfit) Target and Amazon top our list. However, buying swimwear online can be a bit of a hassle. We find ourselves wondering, “Is it REALLY like that?”, “Does it cover my back?”, “How’s the upper support?” – just to name a few. We compared two of our favorites: Summersalt vs. Athleta last year and thought it was time for another swimsuit showdown!

The LIY & Ambassadors team is testing the Target vs. Amazon 👙; display them across multiple heights, sizes, body types and ages! Ready to see the winners….🏆 keep reading!

PS if you’re looking for more of our favorite Amazon-only swimsuits, it’s all right here!

Macy’s 4’11” XS Size, 00/0

Top target [size up if in between] Target bottom [size up if in between] // Amazon bikini [tts]

The easy target won this comparison for me! This high-waisted suit has a lot more coverage of the belly and butt area than the Amazon suit. Sometimes swimsuits are too wide around the waist but do not cover the bust. But this XS suit covers everything comfortably! Perfect for mommy at the beach or the pool with my kids!

Steph’s Favorite One Piece [5’3, 38DDD, Size 10/12]

Target Crochet One Piece High Neck [TTS, wearing in L] // Amazon Daci Pocket Suit [WINNER! TTS, wearing in size L]

Goal Shade & Shore Twisted Top [true to size, wearing in 36DD] // Goal Ball & Shore Bottom [size up if in between, wearing in medium] // One shoulder high waist bikini [true to size, wearing in medium]

Let the match begin! I’ve been a huge fan of the Shade & Shore brand at Target for a few years now because I love that it offers some of the cutest bust styles! When I discovered this cute twist, I knew I had to try it. After putting it on, I feel like the top looks bulky and maybe already also lots of padding going on there. Overall, I feel it makes me look a bit heavy. Insert this bright beauty from Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and quality for under $30! She’s a winner in my books and I’ll rock her all summer!

Jen’s 5’7, 34B, size M/6

Top target [true to size, wearing 34B] Target bottom [true to size, wearing M] // Top Amazon Essentials[true to size, wearing M] Amazon Essentials Bottom[true to size, wearing M]

Eeekkk, this is a close friend of the same race! I will choose Target as the ultimate winner for this match because the quality is generally better and I believe the suit will last longer. I could be completely wrong here! For the price of both – you can also buy each one! Both cover their butts beautifully and are very flattering. The smartest, the Target tops have an assortment of lace-up/bra shelves that I’ve enjoyed on a number of days to give the girls a little extra boost.[you know what I mean] But I also feel very secure being on top of Amazon and love that you have full control of strap adjustment there. So like I said, these clothes are neck and neck for me… but Target has a slight lead, making it the winner!

Claire 5’5″ Size M/L, 10-12

Target suit [TTS, wearing Large] // Amazon suit [TTS, wearing Large]

Amazon to win! Before I wore these suits, I knew the Amazon version would be the winner. The material is much softer and more translucent than Target’s shiny, thin fabric. I also like that the Amazon suit has a rubber band along the back to keep it in place. The straps are also thicker and more supportive for girls! I think the Target suit would be great for smaller busts or adults on vacation (certainly not for moms chasing small babies!). It doesn’t leave much to the imagination! 😉 Both are great (and sexy!) small numbers, but I felt the most comfortable and confident when I found them on Amazon!

Katy 5’4″ Size XS/S, 2

Swimsuit goal [size up if in between] // Amazon Swimsuit [true to size, wearing Orange]

While I love Target, I’ve tried MANY suits and none have really stood out like a LOVE for me. However, this Amazon suit has quickly become my favorite of the season! For the individual, the coverage is great, it’s comfortable, and comes in a LOT of fun colors. A lot of you said you were trying it too! It’s also the perfect nursing swimsuit because it has a zipper!

Lauren 5’6″ Size M/L, 8-10

The target plunges [true to size, wearing large could have done medium] // Amazon Tendon Cutout [size up, wearing in large]

If you’re looking for an affordable suit that will appeal to you, show off a bit of *flesh, and have bust support, this Amazon suit is a great choice! I tried a lot [and I mean a lot] out of the Amazon suits and this is my favorite to control everywhere! The Target suit doesn’t have much suction and has no upper support! While I love Target at almost everything, this year I chose their suit!

Debbie 5’5″ Size S, 4

Top target [size up 1] // Target bottom [size up 1] // Amazon Swimsuit [true to size]

I really love both of these suits but I think the big winner is Amazon! Both of these clothes are good quality but I choose Amazon because I really like pants with full coverage. I like the Target’s high bottom but the latter has a bit less coverage. I also like the buttons on the top of the Amazon. Very cute! The top of the Target is cut a bit lower in a turtleneck so it feels a bit exposed.

Allison 6′ Size L, 8/10

Swimsuit goal [size down if in between] // Amazon Swimsuit [true to size] // Similar cover

Allison here! The Amazon suit is my favorite by far. Great coverage, good bust support (34G) and perfect length for my 6-foot frame. The Target suit is cute, doesn’t have a lot of bust support (though I think the keyhole accent is a great addition), and I feel the hips drop a little too low for my hips and it looks a bit too formal to me. prefer.

Heather 6′ Size S, 4

Swimsuit goal [true to size] // Amazon Swimsuit [Sized up to a Medium, which is my go to one piece suit size for length, if you don’t need length I would stay in your true to size]

I really like both of these suits and think I’ll be using them a lot this summer! Amazon is a winner for me! I love the bright colors, cut out and fit! This suit is not a full body size, but fits my 6″ frame well because of the adjustable straps at the back. I definitely think this is a friendly tall girl! The Target suit has a bit more coverage and would be great for chasing kids around the pool. This one has a long body size and the length for me is huge. I chose the Amazon suit as the winner because I like the fit, cut, and style the best! Tall friends, I don’t think you can go wrong with either of these!

Ashley 5’8″ Size M, 4/6

Top target [size up] // Target bottom [true to size] // Amazon Swimsuit [true to size]

Hey, hey! Ashley, here 🤗 Did you know how hard it is to narrow down the list to two bathing suits from these retailers!? It took me hours, maybe days. Laugh! I picked this super cute option from Amazon because of the lemon print 🍋 It’s just a fun pattern! The reviews are great and there are several color combinations to choose from. My Target option is based on a dark green…it’s my favorite. Notice how I coordinate with my bedroom wall ‍♀️ I have to say the Amazon option is super comfortable and I love how the top adds a bit of extra volume to my small breasts without being bulky. bulky. This is the opposite of the Target suit. I ordered a size 34B casual bra and it fits very well. I would recommend the size up. I’ve been practicing quite a bit so I feel like that might be part of the reason why it feels so good. Overall, I just feel better in an Amazon suit (maybe lemon) but I’ll be going to the beach/pool both next summer!
