Thunderful announced a brand new game in Steam World series – SteamWorld Build! And that’s another genre in the SteamWorld universe later this year on Switch! And it turns out it was revealed last year in the company’s interim report codenamed “The coffee“.
Moving on from action, platforming, Metroidvania, and deck building, SteamWorld Build is a dungeon crawler-responsive city builder. You need to build and maintain cities on the surface of the world while mining resources and fighting enemies underground. Thunderful says it’s a cross between City of Sim and dungeon keeper.
The first trailer above is keen to show off the mix of buildings you can create and places you can explore. You can go from a small town to a huge city with a train station, pubs and lots of workers with the right materials. Underground, you can place tools to help mine materials faster, but you’ll need to fend off insects and other creatures to keep things safe down there.

Build
Be the architect of a SteamWorld mining town! Break ground and build houses for your steam robot citizens, feed them and provide some exciting entertainment.
There’s an abandoned mine beneath your town, and it’s rumored to be filled with ancient technology that holds the key to escaping impending doom. Use natural resources on the ground and abundant ores buried in mines to expand your town. Encourage new classes of inhabitants to join the quest to dig deeper, unearth untold riches and ultimately help them steal it off the planet!
Manage
As the town expanded in all directions, new types of steamers found their way to the settlement – and their needs grew more complex to meet. To keep everyone happy, you’ll need to make sure everyone is working their hardest.Buy items to increase the efficiency of buildings. Keep cargo flowing up and down the mine by speeding up miners with encouraging electric shocks. Or just swap at the local train station and get what you need that way. Up to you!
Mining & Discovering
As you go deeper and deeper into the mines in pursuit of wealth, something will eventually start to hunt you down again. Defend your workers from fearsome creatures and keep walls from collapsing as you explore the deeper levels of your mine.Featured

As mentioned above, the game is part of a game teased last year along with two other codenames — “Strawberry” and “Caramel”. However, during today’s announcement, Sigurgeirsson revealed that the team is currently working on four SteamWorld title. We are sure Headhunter SteamWorld be one of them!
