A serving police officer has been charged with rape.
James Andrew Darnton, 51, faces charges in connection with an incident involving a woman in 2009.
He is a temporary detective inspector in the public protection management unit at Greater Manchester Police.
A report of the incident was received in October 2021.
Darnton will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on 10 July 2023.
He has been suspended, and professional proceedings will begin again after the trials.
