Seoul Halloween Crowd Surge Kills Over 100 People
Janelle Story, 35, told BuzzFeed News she was crawling in a bar when she encountered a crowd on the street. By 8:30 p.m., Story, an American living in Seoul, said the area was packed with people. “Even stepping out of the subway station is scary,” she said via Twitter message early Sunday morning. “It takes 20 minutes to get out of the station.”
As she was moving from one bar to another near the Hamilton hotel, she said the crowd was gathering very closely together, but there was nothing dangerous about it at the time.
“Even though I’m uncomfortable, no one ‘lost control,'” she said. “We all just moved very slowly and orderly.”
But then around 10:30 p.m., Story said she started to feel more panicky about the situation as she was recording the footage and posting it on Twitter.
