Sean “Diddy” Combs to Be Honored With Global Icon Award by MTV – The Hollywood Reporter

Sean “Diddy” Combs has been tapped to receive the Global Icon Award at the 2023 Video Music Awards, where he’ll also perform.
Combs will be honored “for his unparalleled career and continued influence that has achieved unrivaled global success in music and beyond,” MTV said Tuesday.
He’s also vying for four competitive awards this year for his work on “Creepin” (Remix) and “Gotta Move On,” including two for best collaboration along with noms for best rap and best R&B.
This will mark his first VMAs performance since 2005. He first hit the VMA stage in 1997 with a performance of “Mo Money Mo Problems,” followed by his 2002 medley of “Bad Boy for Life,” “Pass the Courvoisier (Part 2)” and “I Need a Girl (Parts 1 & 2).” He hosted the 2005 VMAs, where he performed with Snoop Dogg.
Combs also has won VMAs for best R&B video in 2997 and the viewer’s choice award in 1998.
He recently announced that his latest work, The Love Album: Off the Grid, will drop on Sept. 15.
As previously announced, other VMA performers include Anitta, Demi Lovato, Doja Cat, Karol G, Kelsea Ballerini, Lil Wayne, Måneskin, Shakira, Stray Kids and Tomorrow X Together. Shakira will receive the Video Vanguard Award and perform live.
The 2023 VMAs will air live from New Jersey’s Prudential Center at 8 p.m. ET (delayed PT) on Sept. 12. Awards are voted on by fans.
