Scorn – How to get a rifle

When you first wake up in Scorn’s biomechanical nightmare world, one thing is immediately made clear: you’re in yourself. The game does not provide you with standard instructions, explanations or instructions. It’s almost like Myst in transparency… just less sunny and inviting, and ever more bleak and slimy.
Given the obscurity of Scorn’s intro, getting through the first paragraph can be a challenge, especially with the tough puzzles that puzzle the halls required to progress. But once you get past the opening, you’ll be rewarded with the first weapon in the game (which we call a “rifle”, even though it works like a slaughterhouse bolt gun. rather than a traditional gun) , which will assist you through the next levels, more focused on combat.
This is how you get rifles in Scorn.
Go to the elevator

When you first wake up in Scorn, you’ll find yourself standing in front of a door with a weird, confusing panel next to it. Skip this door (and all the other identical doors in the area), and walk down the hallway to your left instead. Keep going until you come to a platform overlooking a large area below.

From here, go down the path on your right, and open the door at the end of the hallway. Stick your arm to the machine on the left to have a grotesque key implanted in your arm. Now go to the device opposite the big door in the center of the room, you should now be able to put your hand inside to control. Move left to unlock the latch, then right to slide the door open. It will start closing as soon as you exit the cell, so sprint (using L1) to the door as quickly as possible to get through in time.

You will now find yourself standing in the large room that the previous platform overlooked. Head to the right and through the door, where you will find yourself in a room with surgical equipment that looks very unhygienic. Look left to find the elevator. Put your hand on the controller to go to the second floor.
Claws Puzzles

Go down the hallway and onto the platform. Here you’ll see a grid on the wall in front of you, with weird, egg-like orbs – some single and some connected in pairs – filling the slots and two on the platform on which you are standing. The person on the right controls a swipe to move the orbs along the grid; the one on the left creates another swipe in the top left slot of the grid.

This puzzle is basically just a slightly larger scale, horror version of the sliding tile puzzles you probably played as a kid. To get started, jump into the right design and move the solo glowing orb into the upper left position on the grid. (To do this, simply move to the two horizontal pieces that are vertically connected on its way to the top right and out of the way). Follow the path to the left to make a swipe and break the orb, thus freeing up a slot on the grid and making it easier for you to complete the puzzle.
Your ultimate goal is to get the other glowing orb (connected to the second sphere below it) to the top left spot. This process can get a bit complicated, depending on how spatially minded you are, so don’t worry if it takes some trial and error. The basic strategy is to move all the orbs as far as possible on the grid to clear the way for your glowing orbs without getting in your way. There is no one right way to accomplish this task. After you get the second glowing orb into the upper left of the grid, jump back to the left orb. The claw will grab the orb and spin it around, revealing a blood-soaked, humanoid creature inside it, and bring it down to the first floor by elevator. Time to go meet your new friend!
Numbering of creatures
Take the elevator back to the first floor. Before introducing yourself to your new “companion”, climb to the top of the tower in the center of the main room. Here you can interact with the contraption to get a full view of the area and adjust the three junctions of the rails that surround the room.

To get the creature to where we want him, make sure that the bottom right junction is open (ie leading into the room) and the other two are closed (i.e. continue around the room).
Now, go back to find the creature. You’ll see him in an opening in the ceiling, facing the middle of the room. Interact with the object opposite him, and use the crane to knock him out of the gap and lower him to the chair below. Time to take him for a walk!

Push the car the creature is sitting on along the track. It will stop a short way ahead; use the tool at the stop to drill some grotesque metal pieces into the creature, then keep following. Finally, you will stop in front of the surgical equipment in the elevator room.

Use the external unit to pick up the creature and place him in the chair of the surgical device. Then jump into the control panel of the surgical device. The machine will proceed to knock the creature out of its shell and drop him into a hole below, leaving his disjointed arm. Pick it up and head out the door back to the main room.

From here, continue along the perimeter and into another room you haven’t explored yet. Here you will find another handset, just like you used on your previous self. Stick the creature’s arm to the device to implant the key into it, then return to the main room and find the large door with two pieces of furniture in front of it.
Glue the creature’s arm to the left device. This will open the latch and allow you to use the appropriate device to open the door.
Note: You can also open the door by bringing the creature into the room where you found the old machine and use the saw chair there to free him. He will follow you around, inserting his arm into the handheld, then into the door device, allowing you to unlock it. However, he moved at a snail’s pace, and ended up being a sad sight. Better to just get him out of his misery and take time for himself and…well, scorn.
Take the rifle

Go through the large doorway, and take the elevator up at the end of the hallway. You’ll find yourself in a large hallway, with two doors leading into new areas on either side of the hallway. Before venturing out, however, let’s go to the end of the corridor. Stand on the platform to unlock the rifle. With your first weapon equipped, you are now free to take on puzzles and enemies in subsequent areas, while continuing to explore the disgusting maze of Scorn.
