These days, I find myself facing much of late nights. Whether it’s working longer into the evening to watch a story, loosing a girl’s night, or simply fiddling with the TV while I’m binge-watching a new movie (I blame season two of “The Bear” for my most recent sleepless nights), my bedtime routine has taken a turn for the worse this summer and I’ve been doing my best to get it back on track. Since I’m not ready to give up my late-night TV habit, I figured my next best bet would be to simplify my evening routine – which usually includes me filling out my gratitude diarywork through my evening skin care routine, and took off my earrings to ensure my (almost zero) six-hour sleep was not interrupted by any unwanted pokes or pinches in my skin. Apparently I’ve discovered that there’s actually a very practical (and classy) solution to completely forgetting the second half of my routine, and it takes the form Maison Miru Everyday Nap earring set ($230, originally $245).
ICYMI: Maison Miru’s viral nap earrings have been going viral on social media over the past few months, with fashion influencers and jewelry lovers alike seemingly marveling at the accessory’s fun, simple (but vibrant!) design, which features a flat back — not the traditional slide-out style — and ensures you won’t have to worry about your jewelry poking around in your jewelry. It’s truly a modern marvel of fashion invention, and after a few months of testing the earrings for a nap, I can confirm that they’re worthy of all the hype around the net. What I like about these Maison Miru Nap earrings
First and foremost, I love how comfortable these nappy earrings feel. I am a very sensitive person to sleep, so it is always impossible to wear earrings every time I go to bed. Even the highest quality styles consistently poke or puncture the skin behind my ears, causing irritation, redness, and often forcing me to stop wearing earrings for a few days just to make sure the skin has enough time to heal. I was skeptical of these nap earrings, especially considering how much more expensive they are than the accessories I’m usually attracted to. But, I’m glad they exceeded all my expectations and (as promised) also allowed me to sleep more comfortably than I ever thought possible (with a pair of earrings on, of course).
The accessory has a flat and removable back that can be pulled out from the base of the earring. Similar to any other earring style, you can simply tuck the piece with the metal rod into your pierced earlobe until it sticks out the back, then attach the flat back piece to fit. Thanks to the smooth design, the metal tip is completely covered, so the metal won’t poke or go deeper into the skin behind your ear. Best of all, the nappy earrings are made of high-quality, medical-grade metal that doesn’t tarnish, so you can easily wear them while sleeping or showering without worrying about them wearing out too much over time.
I also appreciate that the earrings are available to shop in a variety of styles and metals, so really anyone can enjoy the benefits of accessories — regardless of your personal style or metal preferences. From thin gold bars and crystal-encrusted studs to unique rhinestone styles, there’s always something for everyone to love.
These earrings are extremely exquisite – as in, they are without a doubt the most exquisite piece of jewelry I have ever owned. Given their lightweight and comfortable nature, you could argue that this is to be expected – I mean, how else could you design earrings that can be comfortably worn while sleeping, showering, or even wearing headphones (in my opinion). While I expected them to be smaller, I don’t know how small these earrings really are. Because they’re so small, I really had a hard time removing the accessory’s back clasp, as the earrings were too small to hold properly – and with acrylic nails it’s even more complicated. If you are someone who likes to have longer nails (whether real or acrylic), then I would recommend avoiding these earrings as there is no way you can get a good enough grip on the accessory as they are too small. Plus, you’ll want to stash them in a jewelry box or somewhere you won’t lose them — the few times I drop them or leave them out of sight, I literally have to crawl across the floor to get them because they’re so fragile and hard to spot.
Another thing that was noted by reviewers is that the metal bar of the earrings is much shorter than in other styles. While I personally don’t see this as an issue with my ears, other shoppers have admitted that they struggle with getting their ears pierced through the piercing, possibly because their earlobes are thicker. I found that the napping earring went into the first earring on my lower earlobe more seamlessly (probably because it was the softest and thinnest part of my ear), while the piercing into my second and third earrings required a bit more wiggle to achieve the perfect fit. Obviously, there’s no way to guarantee they’ll be the right size before you buy, but if you’re someone with thicker earlobes, then you should consider whether these nap earrings are really right for you based on reviews.
