The Devil of Hell’s Kitchen is back thanks to a Disney+ revival, but don’t expect masked Matt Murdock to throw a (bloody) punch like he did in recklessNetflix is running.
In an interview with NMEstar Charlie Cox — the first to portray the Nelson and Murdock Law Office co-founder and the blind vigilante for three seasons starting in 2015 — made it clear that fans of the original series should expect some similarities in the Disney+ show reckless: Born again when it comes to its tone.
But the actor also warns, as someone who believes “the character works best when he’s geared towards a slightly more mature audience,” that other things are bound to be different. “My instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won’t be as bloody,” he said.
Fans of Netflix original series are especially attached to recklessmore mature, gritty and brutal TV-MA implementation, applied throughout Netflix-Marvel TV defender universe, including on shows like Luke’s cage and Jessica Jones.
Born again the star is aware of those fan expectations but argues that limiting some of that violence and making the characters and show more accessible to a wider audience might not be such a bad thing.
“I would tell those people, we did it. Let’s take the things that really work, but can we expand?” he say. “Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing sight of what we’ve learned about what works?”
Born again will see Cox’s Murdock return as the buttery man and the fearless man after a spate of cast members – who will return alongside original series actor King Pin Vincent D’Onofrio – indicates that there will not be a sequel to the Netflix show.
