Random: Masahiro Sakurai says he prefers buying digital video games

Super Smash Bros. Final Creator Masahiro Sakurai tackled a hot topic in his latest YouTube upload – discussing the pros and cons of a digital and physical game collection.
Sakurai admits he’s “always worked with digital” and doesn’t really consider himself a collector. Instead of focusing on the packaging of the games, he prefers to keep the “experience” he gets from playing these games. He also mentions that he really doesn’t have enough space left for a large physical game library and chooses to keep everything compact with folders and other storage solutions.
Here are the obvious ‘advantages’ of each, according to Sakurai’s latest video:
Physical – Advantages
- Can keep it forever
- Less data to install
- collect
- You don’t need a loyalty card/credit card to buy
Digital – Advantages
- Buy now
- Always in stock
- No need to go to the store
- It requires no shelf space
