Raid Root Of Nightmares Will Introduce An Ancient Enemy In Destiny 2: Lightfall

Amid raid leaks and revelations, Bungie took to Twitter to announce the upcoming raid for Destiny 2: Light would be called the Root of Nightmares–that begins on March 10 at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Players will have 48 hours after launch to complete the new raid in Competition mode.
Bungie’s official description reads: “Traveled from an unknown place and time, a haunting presence has been discovered. We now face an ancient threat. growing on our doorstep.” The image shows a Fire Brigade of six Guardians standing inside the Pyramid architecture, but the space is filled with eerie, spiked flora. It was unusual to see something bright and organic inside the Pyramid ship, but the growth of flora was hinted at when the Traveler shot the Pyramid ship in Lightfall launch trailer.

Although the developer has hinted that the new raid will tackle a arch-enemy, the title suggests that the story could take a deeper look at the para-causal phenomenon of “Nightmare” in Destiny. Players first see Nightmare on the Moon in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep when the subsurface Pyramid ship awakens. A few seasons later, Season of the Haunted brought the Nightmare back via Emperor Calus’ Leviathan, where the Guardian and Eris Morn helped Zavala, Crow, and Caiatl face their grief and prevent Calus from joining the Humans. proof. Recently, Season of Plunder introduced the remains of a powerful being named Nezarec and alluded to this Disciple’s connection to the Pyramid of the Moon.
