Puerto Rican reggaeton singer charged with domestic violence
San Juan, Puerto Rico –
Authorities in Puerto Rico arrested Randy Ortiz Acevedo of famous reggaeton duo Jowell & Randy on domestic violence charges after a judge on Monday ruled there was sufficient evidence against the singer.
Prosecutor Anthony Oyola told reporters that Ortiz, who has not been forced to plead guilty, was being held on $15,000 bond.
A publisher for Ortiz did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
Oyola said the allegations stem from a January 7 incident but declined to provide further details because it was a domestic violence case. He only added that Ortiz’s mother testified on behalf of the singer before he was charged.
Jowell & Randy are considered pioneers in the field of reggaeton having started their career 20 years ago.
