Pokémon Sleep will help you get a good night’s sleep, coming this year

In one of the more unexpected announcements from today’s Pokémon Presents rollout, the company announced that a new sleep tracking app called Sleeping Pokémon will be released later this year.
Pokémon Sleep will measure how well you slept for a night and store the results for analysis. By sleeping with your phone next to you, the app measures your doze, doze, and doze stages, with different Pokémon appearing on your screen depending on how well you kip.
If it seems like an odd concept, that’s because it is. You’ll be able to wake up in the morning and see a visual display of your sleep patterns thanks to the various ‘mon’ positions that have accumulated during the night.
There seems to be some aspect of classic Pokémon collecting here – some sleep positions are rarer than others – but this very likely is sleep tracking first and foremost and a Pokémon ‘game’ as an add-on.
We don’t have an official release date for this yet beyond ‘Summer 2023’, though we imagine that will be set in the coming months.
