Pokémon Go Team Go Rocket Captain Update March 2023

Pokémon go has its own version of the infamous Team Rocket, called rocket team. in this Pokémon Go guide, we will break down how to find Sierra, Cliff and Arlo . Missile Leaders and knock them down.
Below, we list the parties and their strategies that work for March 2023 after last month’s Team Go Rocket Takeover event activated as part of Event “Cracking Voltage”.
This is especially helpful if you’re still completing Go Tour Hoenn’s chasing legends research, where defeating the Leader is required for the penultimate step.
How to find Sierra, Cliff and Arlo in Pokémon Go
Team Go Rocket members can be found in hot air balloon fly above you or from malfunction, Black PokéStops. Every time you beat one, you will get one Mysterious ingredient. After you receive 6 Mysterious ingredients, they will merge into one Missile Radar, which allows you to find a random leader. The three leaders are Sierra, Arlo and Cliff.
Some of the Time Research and Team Rocket Special Research missions require you to defeat all three leaders. Completing the Team Go Rocket Special Research will reward you with a Super Missile Radar, which allows you to find the boss, Giovanni. Defeating Giovanni will obtain you a Legendary Shadow Pokémon.

Sierra may have the following:
- Beldum (steel/spirit)
-
Sharpedo (water/dark)
Lapras (ice)
flight route (ground/dragon) -
hound (dark fire)
Alakazam (psychic)
change (grass/dark)
Depending on what she has on her party, we recommend using a ghost, shadow, or battle type Pokémon. Sierra’s part has the most diverse abilities of the three, which makes it difficult for her to go up against specific types of Pokémon. If you know what she’s using, you may need a different type of Pokémon for each of her types.
We recommend the following, but make sure to pay attention to what Sierra is using, as these won’t work for all of her available options:
- machines with Counter and Dynamic Punch
- Hydreigon with Bite and Brutal Swing
- Darkrai with Growl and Dark Pulse
- Chandeliers with Hex and Shadow Ball
- Gengar with Lick and Shadow Ball
Go Rocket team leader Arlo

Arlo may have the following:
- Nidoran (poison)
-
jungler (poison/fly)
steel (steel/base)
madness (rock/grass) -
shark (fire/flying)
sword (bug/steel)
Armaldo (kicks/bugs)
Most of Arlo’s party is weak against water or fire-type moves, which we recommend. You can try the following, but keep kind of advantage in mind and swap accordingly:
- Kyogre with Waterfalls and Surfing
- swamp with water guns and water cannons
- Kingler with Bubble and Crabammer
- restore spirit with Fire Fang and Fusion Flare
- shark with Fire Spin and Blast Burn
Team leader of Go Rocket counter Cliff

Cliff can use any of the following:
- Magnemite (electrical/steel)
-
Venus (grass/poison)
Omastar (ice)
pin (bugs) -
Sharpedo (water/dark)
despot (rock/darkness)
Camerupt (fire/earth)
Cliff’s team is mostly weak against fire, grass, or water-type moves. You can use many of the counters we recommend against the other two leaders against him, but again you’ll need to check his team to make sure your counters are line up, as he can have a rather diverse group.
We recommend using any of the following:
- Kyogre with Waterfalls and Surfing
- swamp with water guns and water cannons
- restore spirit with Fire Fang and Fusion Flare
- shark with Fire Spin and Blast Burn
- Venus with Razor Leaf and Frenzy Plant
- Torterra with Razor Leaf and Frenzy Plant
Advice from Team Go Rocket team leader
If you’re struggling against leaders, here are some tips to keep in mind:
- They will use their shield on the first two Attacks you use. Using a chargeable Pokémon and using Charge Attacks quickly will free you from their shields, allowing you to comfortably deal damage to them.
- You should be prepared for the first Pokémon you use to be defeated. If you use a Pokémon that easily passes the shield, that’s fine, but your other Pokémon will need to have a type advantage to defeat any remaining Pokémon.
- Remember, you can join the battle multiple times using one Rocket Radar, so you can line up your strongest Pokémon just to see what the leader is carrying. If you beat them on the first try, great! Otherwise you can swap your pool for some efficient counter.
- Team leaders have high CP Pokémon, so you should definitely use the highest CP Pokémon you have if you get stuck.
