Pokémon Go Finally Adds Kecleon on Chespin Community Day

After 5 years, 2 months of waiting, and with surprisingly little fanfare, Pokémon go developer Niantic has finally put Kecleon in a must-catch game on mobile devices. Kecleon is available to catch in Pokémon To go after the end of saturday Chespin Community Dayruns from 2-5 pm local time.

Players in countries like New Zealand and Australia, where Chespin Community Day has come and gone, said they could catch Kecleon once the event is over. Kecleon seems to be a bit rare in Pokémon goOnly appear at some PokéStops.

Kecleon’s appearance is a big deal for Pokémon go finishers, who have yet to complete their Hoenn Pokédex so far. Kecleon is an unusual organization, even by Pokémon go standard. Pokémon from the Hoenn region — introduced in Ruby Pokémon and Jade – to be originally added to the mobile game starting October 2017. Since then, 134 Pokémon from Hoenn have been released in Pokémon go, with players waiting 1,908 days for the 135th to complete their regional Pokédex. Players will no longer see the giant, glaring “352” in their Pokédex.

Pokémon go players have been pestering Niantic about Kecleon, aka the color-swapping Pokémon, for years. Developers often respond to questions about Kecleon’s absence by saying they’re waiting for the right time and right implementation to bring Normal-type Pokémon to the surface. To go. Just last year, live game director Michael Steranka said America today, “In the main series games, Kecleon has a very unique ability. There are some Pokémon that we want to make sure we want to do right. Before we introduced Kecleon to the world, we wanted to make sure that the way we presented it was exceptional.”

So how did Niantic launch Kecleon in Pokémon go… special?

How to catch Kecleon in Pokémon Go

After the end of Chespin Community Day, players will find Kecleon at PokéStops, seemingly at random. Players will have to tap on a PokéStop to see if Kecleon is there; The Pokémon will be barely visible, but its characteristic jagged red mark is unmistakable. When a player tries to spin a PokéStop with a Kecleon on it, they will receive a message: “There is an invisible obstacle in your way. It prevents you from collecting items…” Tapping a Kecleon will cause it to “jump off” the PokéStop disc and appear on the game’s world map. Kecleon can then be caught like any other Pokémon go encountered, although you’ll need to be near a PokéStop to see it.

Now that we can (and know how) to catch Kecleon, another obvious question is… what took so long? It’s something Niantic has yet to comment on, but Kecleon’s long-awaited appearance in Pokémon go came at a seemingly odd time. Kecleon missed Hoenn throwback challenge in 2020 and Hoenn’s Celebration in 2021 and some players have been expecting Pokémon to appear now Pokémon Go Tour Hoenn next month in Las Vegas. But ticket holders and attendees of that event may have access to another coveted product, Shiny Kecleon, which has yet to be confirmed to be in the show. Pokémon go.
