Twice a year—especially between spring and fall—we have a magical period of transitional weather to get dressed. The days are chilly, with just enough warm sunshine. Yes, I’m talking about that glorious period called Hoodie and shorts season. It’s a completely wrong view that is often seen in celebs with style trends like Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Jonah Hill and Jacob Elordi. But there’s one undisputed king of the hoodie and shorts combo: Pharrell Williams.
He’ll be wearing doubles on the stage at a big music festival. He will wear it in the studio. It’s also a good thing to do when attending high volume events that find him elbow collision with royal couture. And last but certainly not least, it’s really a look he gives his days off, whether he waiting room on his artful sofa or ride a horse around on his motorbike.
The always stylish Williams has certainly found an outfit he likes and has run it correctly again and again. His globally backpacking lifestyle means he’s often in a moderate weather pattern that supports pairing. (Looking at his Instagram, I can’t count about a dozen matching hoodies and shorts, and that number has only been around since March.)
Now, even for the non- Pharrells among us, the hoodie and shorts combo tends to be a pretty safe pattern, an outfit that reads as great without even trying too hard. much. Just focus on shaping the proportions: you want to wear a baggy and oversized hoodie and contrast that baggy figure with a pair of shorter shorts. (You don’t want to drown in the fabric, so leave any Robert Pattinson grade merchandise for another day.) Bold with color and play around with texture. A main Pharrell example Would this pink hoodie be paired with glossy leather shorts? (His Tiffany color diamond It certainly doesn’t hurt the look either.) And lastly, don’t shy away from the best accessories in your wardrobe—great glassesa stylish hat, not-so-boring socks and the prettiest pair of sneakers you can find.
Much of the country is currently wrapping up this year’s hoodie and shorts season. Inhale it while it’s still here. With any luck, we’ll get a few more glimpses from Pharrell before the cold weather of late fall arrives. (Either way, we’re just rounding 25 of the most beautiful hoodies today—And they’ll look just as great with trousers, so fret not.) So get out there now in a hoodie and shorts before it’s too late. It’s probably the easiest and most fun way to get the right fashion sense this season. Plus, that’s what Pharrell wants you to do.
