Paramount’s Yellowstone beats House Of The Dragon in season 5 premiere ratings

Paramount Network’s Yellowstone premiered its fifth season this week and achieved massive ratings–better than Yellowstone Season 4 and better than HBO’s Game of Thrones spin-off House of the Dragon, Diversity report.

Season 5 of Yellowstone premieres Sunday on the Paramount Network, CMT, TV Land, and Pop; These networks have also done this for previous installments, Variety notes. On its main platform, Paramount Network, Yellowstone Season 5 amassed 8.8 million users, up from 8 million for its Season 4 launch. However, across all four networks, that number rises to 10, 3 million, which seems to indicate that all of the show’s growth is happening on the Paramount Network. Encore broadcasts increased that number to 12.1 million viewers.

Compared to HBO’s House of the Dragon, which airs on HBO and HBO Max, this is particularly impressive. HBO’s Game of Thrones Side Story attracted 9.99 million viewers on two services when it premiered in August. House of the Dragon episodes on average nearly 30 million VND when it comes to user catching up at the end of the season, additional broadcasts on HBO and the like. There’s no data yet on how Yellowstone compares to that number.

Yellowstone tells the story of the Dutton family and their huge Yellowstone Dutton ranch in Montana. In the Season 5 premiere, John Dutton (Kevin Costner) is now governor of Montana, shifting the scale of power in the Dutton family and ranch.
