Overwatch 2 Battle for Olympus Begins January 5 With New Abilities

precaution 2 is getting a new limited-time game mode that will infuse the game’s seven heroes with fun godly powers, allowing Widowmaker to turn his enemies to stone and Roadhog to be a cyclic stone-throwing giant period. The free deathmatch mode for all, Battle for Olympus, will run from January 5 to 19, guard 2Blizzard confirmed on Tuesday.

Trailer for precaution 2Greek god’s themed mode promises “divine rewards,” but doesn’t specify what players can earn. Based on previous limited event modes, it could mean aerosols, dialogue, titles, and possibly skins. But the new abilities themselves seem to be the real draw, mixing up how characters like Reinhardt, Lucio, Pharah and others will play in the Battle for Olympus mode.

In the trailer, we see some intriguing new powers, such as Queen Junker calling out lightning bolts as she casts her ultimate Rampage and free-moving Pharah — and healing! — last between Barrage. Other tweaks hinted at in the trailer include Lucio stuns opponents with Soundwaves (aka “boop”) and Ramattra lifts enemies off the ground with his Fierce Whirlwind.

Another detail from the trailer: It looks like there are repurposed armor packs from ol’ Torbjörn scattered throughout the Château Guillard, and they’re distinct from the standard health packs, but their purpose is still unclear.

The Battle for Olympus mode will also bring changes to the Ilios map. The character that earns the most eliminations during the event will receive their own marble statue on the map of Greece.

precaution 2 in the middle of it second season of content, lasts until the end of February. The game’s next event is the 2023 Lunar New Year, which runs from January 17 to February 6.
