O’Shea Jackson Jr. defending ‘Nepo Babies’ member amid criticism
Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., is commenting on the “nepo baby” conversation.
For the uninitiated, a nepo baby — aka nepotism baby — is a somewhat derogatory label that describes people who follow in their celebrity parents’ footsteps. The name suggests that the stars’ more famous parents have a major role to play in driving them to success, as opposed to others who aren’t born into fame and have to navigate the game on their own.
New York The magazine adorns Nepo babies with a hilariously scathing cover
The conversation was sparked by a recent New York magazine article, titled, “She Has Mom’s Eyes. And the agent.
This piece delves into the many nepo babies that are taking over Hollywood, including stars like Zoë Kravitz, Lily-Rose Depp, Brooklyn Beckham, Maude Apatow, etc. We should also note that some of these stars have appeared. featured on the cover with their cups cropped over newborn babies.

We also have to shout out a snippet summarizing the overall vibe of this Spice article.
“Here’s the infant motto: Try, and if you don’t succeed at first, remember you’re still a celebrity’s child, so try, try again.”
With all the rumors, “nepo babies” started trending on Twitter. In the end, this got Ice Cube’s son to share his thoughts.
O’Shea Jackson Jr. tell Nepo babies to ‘Embrace’ their privileged reality
On Tuesday, O’Shea started a Twitter thread by talking about how he played his father in Straight Outta Comptonhe still had to audition for the role “for two years before getting the part.”
My dad told me that in a perfect world, I would play him right away. I did college screenwriting at USC. I accept the challenge. And auditioned for the role for two years before accepting the role. Then because of me, he couldn’t hold my hand for the rest of his career

He continued, saying that he still had to “get” [his] a** got up and worked” despite his father’s help.
“I had to get up and make it work. From the roles I chose. The work ethic I put into them. My professionalism on set and promotional trips. He even left HIS company and went to find a group of his own. Once the door was opened, I had to step through it and grow.”
But none of them. NOBODY. BELONG TO. THAT. Happened that way without my father’s love. The work he put in brought us to a place of opportunity. And for me to ignore that or not accept and use as a guide would be stupid and disrespectful. I am grateful and I use his teachings every day.

Of those who are part of the “genius/wealth generation,” O’Shea tells them to “embrace it.” Also, he begs them not to let others detract from their professional achievements.
…What are they. Break your butt! Work! And leave something for your kids to do the same!
It’s not a shadow for you to get out of!
It’s an empire you’re growing!
But it all starts with your own love. The love of those before you. Strong Mind & WORK

He concluded his commentary by saying that he hopes people “can give their children a chance to succeed.”
Family is First. May those who read this chart a path for their family to walk in the future. And teach them to love themselves. To love their family. And pave the way for the next.
Thank you that’s my TED talk.
