NBA Injury Report: Zion Williamson Disqualified, Kristaps Porzingis Suspected and More Updates on Collin Sexton and Brandon Ingram
Zion Williamson was ruled out by the New Orleans Pelicans as he followed NBA health and safety protocols. “Zanos” has missed five games this season and will be sidelined for a few more, starting with the San Antonio Spurs game.
He is expected to miss at least two games when trying to implement the league’s Covid measures. He could return on December 28 when New Orleans hosts the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The former NBA star has been in incredible form throughout December. He is averaging 28.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 5.9 assists and 1.2 steals for the month. this.
The New Orleans Pelicans are on a four-game losing streak this season and could see their decline drag on without Williamson and Brandon Ingram. Ingram has been inactive for quite some time due to his left big toe being crushed.
Naji Marshall, Larry Nance Jr. (if he competes) and Garrett Temple could have had more game time without the 2019 NBA Draft’s #1 pick.
Meanwhile, Kristaps Porzingis’ starting position for the Washington Wizards tonight has not been determined. He’s in doubt for his team’s game against the Utah Jazz tonight. Porzingis also missed the Wizards’ 113-110 win over the Phoenix Suns last Tuesday.
The Wizards just went through a humiliating 10-game losing streak in their win over the Suns. It would be harder for them to maintain their momentum without the former NBA All-Star. Porzingis played 29 of the Wizards’ 32 games after playing just 17 last season.
Porzingis’ absence will come as a huge shock to the team as he is playing better than his lone NBA-All-Star campaign during the 2017-18 season. He is averaging 22.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 blocks per game.
Daniel Gafford is once again expected to take over as center forward if Kristaps Porzingis remains sidelined.
Collin Sexton: Right hamstring stretch; Injured since December 7, 2022
The Utah Jazz upgraded Collin Sexton’s status to questionable level as the team battled the Washington Wizards tonight. Sexton has missed the Jazz’s last seven games due to a strain on his right hamstring. He was injured in Utah’s 124-123 win against golden empire warriors on December 7th.
the Old Cleveland Cavaliers The shooting guard has played 27 of Utah’s 36 games this season. Sexton was a big part of the Jazz’s surprising success as he averaged 14.3 points on a 49.3% shot.
If he is sidelined again, his return will be very soon. Malik Beasley, Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Talen Horton-Tucker will continue to compete if Sexton is still absent.
Brandon Ingram: Wound on left big toe; Injured since November 25, 2022
New Orleans Pelicans Coach Willie Green recently informed the media that Brandon Ingram will miss two more games. He will still be absent for tonight’s San Antonio Spurs and the OKC Thunder game on Friday.
The former NBA All-Star sprained his toe on November 25 during the Pelicans’ 132-111 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. The Pelicans have lost four games in a row and are 7-4 in Ingram’s absence. He could see action next Monday when New Orleans hosts Indiana Pacers.
Pelicans don’t have either Zion Williamson who follow NBA health and safety protocols. They will have an uphill battle with Spurs, who could also miss out on some of their players.
