Jayson Tatum clapped once in frustration after a foul call on Monday. The referee gave him a technical slap.
That’s an amazingly small response from Tatum being technically tagged. It was a single clapping, and wasn’t even specifically aimed at anyone but himself.
Third, the NBA agreed.
The federation reversed the call after reviewing the footage. Although they may have been embarrassed to move because everyone was laughing at them.
Durant doesn’t slow down on Twitter and he doesn’t hold back here either. Can you be penalized for criticizing the running of a game you’re not in?
Tatum also laughed about it when speaking to reporters after the game.
“Anyone in the arena, anyone watching the game, can see I’m frustrated with myself,” Tatum told reporters. “I don’t say anything, I don’t look at him, so after the game, you can laugh when you see it.”
It was fortunate for Tatum that the technique was reversed as this would be his fourth of the season, and caused him to pick up pace in excess of 16 for the season – i.e. an automatic suspension. And suspension is no laughing matter.
