On Friday, it was announced that Paul Pelosi, husband of the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosiwere hospitalized after being brutally beaten with a hammer after an intruder broke into their home in San Francisco.
Follow Related press, the intruder is said to be looking for Nancy when he shouts, “Where is Nancy, where is Nancy?” Police arrived at the home shortly after 2 a.m., where they found Paul, 82, and the suspect, who was identified as 42-year-old David Depape. Sheriff William Scott said that both men grabbed the hammer, and Depape snatched it away from Pelosi and began beating him up with it.
Pelosi was taken to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital after he suffered severe injuries and was hit several times in the head.
Exact details of Pelosi’s condition were not shared, but a spokesman has said he will recover.
Nancy Pelosi was in Washington at the time of the attack because she was scheduled to appear at an event with Vice President Harris on Saturday. She has canceled her appearances since then.
The motive for the attack is still under investigation. However, the AP reports that three people with knowledge of the investigation spoke on condition of anonymity and shared that Depape had targeted the homes of Nancy and Paul Pelosi.
Vice President Harris spoke out about the attack and said,
Doug and I are appalled by the attack on Paul Pelosi, Speaker Pelosi’s husband. The entire Pelosi family is in our hearts and we wish him a speedy recovery.

CNN reported that Depape posted several memes and conspiracy theories on social media regarding the Covid vaccine, the 2020 election, and the January 6 attack on the Capitol. These posts were made through Facebook, which have since been deleted.
Relatives have confirmed that the account where the memes and conspiracy theories were posted belonged to Depape, and that he had been estranged from his family for some time.
