Modern Warfare II Multiplayer Impressions: Solid Base Gameplay

I played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Multiplayer For a few hours this weekend, I’ve leveled my way up to 15 in the first beta for the PlayStation 5 console game. Made for the next generation, this is one of those Call games. of Duty the most beautiful.

I’m impressed with the multiplayer gameplay, which comes out October 28 alongside the single-player campaign for Modern Warfare II. The multiplayer base game, in which six human players play against six others in infantry combat, is solid.

You can watch some of my multiplayer rounds in the videos embedded in this story. From the beginning, I had a real struggle to survive in the game, and I think there’s something different about this year’s title. But in the end, once I level up some of my guns, I can even score a bit.

We haven’t seen some deeper gameplay improvements like underwater combat or vehicle chase combat, but the next-gen graphics on the PS5 are pretty vivid and detailed. And after I figured out what caused my initial network problems (the PS5 sometimes forgets it has a wired Internet connection), I haven’t seen a single instance where the enhanced graphics caused my machine to freeze up. collect data on the network front. Instead, it works pretty well. I only have occasional crashes, but overall I’m pretty happy with the game’s network performance.

With the revamped Gunsmith customization platform, it will give people plenty of reasons to upgrade their guns for the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on November 16. What’s cool about Gunsmith is that you can quickly edit it and change the payload. in very short time between matches. One of the great things is that the delay between matches is pretty short. So this Call of Duty doesn’t waste your time compared to previous titles.

I primarily played Domination and Team Deathmatch on three maps: Farm 18 in a classified location, Mercado Las Almas in Mexico, and the Brewbergh Hotel in an evacuation center in Amsterdam. I also played several rounds of Hostage Rescue at the Valderas Museum in Spain, and in Brewbergh, as well as Knockout. In both of these modes, you will have one life. But teammates can revive each other.

For this entire beta test, the game revolves around the core infantry combat in the game with 6v6 battles.

I was tricked a few times by the decoy soldier, who quickly inflated and sucked up other players’ flames, revealing their locations. If you hit the decoy, the air will collapse and you have to wonder where the real shooter is.

Thankfully, with relatively weak guns that aren’t leveled up, I never ran into the massive armored soldier you see in the trailers.

Everything in these levels is about infantry combat, so we don’t see any more complicated scenarios where you see stealth, amphibious attacks, AI and vehicle warfare. I was able to slide and dolphin dive after the tactical sprint, but I didn’t see any overlays. I was able to hang myself on a ledge and look over the edge before jumping over the wall. It’s a helpful mechanic.

On each map I was able to figure out spots where I could expect enemies to run and where I could camp and shoot away with my light machine gun. I’ve played with both LMGs and assault rifles. While it’s difficult to get a draw in melee battles with LMGs, I eventually got used to it and like it’s power to take out enemies at a distance. That’s how I usually play. I can’t wait to try the sniper rifle, which is not available in this beta.

Mercado has a nice long line in the middle that would be great for sniping or full power LMGs, which I don’t have. Farm 18 also has some long views across the rooftops, while the hotel naturally resembles a map of the area closer.

There’s one more beta test going on September 22nd with Xbox and PC players going to test the game once again. I expect to see some of the bigger battles that will determine whether this Call of Duty game goes beyond the basics.

Then we’ll see the large-scale Set Battle Map that will be 32v32. The graphics in this beta definitely look better. Modern Warfare will feature a physics-based material system for modern photogrammetry, a new composite tile-based streaming system, a new PBR water and underwater rendering system, and a volumetric lighting system. world, 4K HDR, etc. new GPU geometry paths. But let’s hope there’s more to it than just pretty pictures.
