LSU lands four-star WR Shelton Sampson, keeping him in Baton Rouge
LSU put the cherries at the start of a big summer on the recruiting road on Saturday afternoon with pledges from local phenom and widely Catholic Baton Rouge (La.) receiving four stars Shelton Sampson.
LSU . Midfielder Coach Joe Sloan and a wide range of trainers Cortez Hankton played a key role in keeping Sampson in the state capital as they added a deadly offensive weapon.
“Coach Sloan, coach Hankton, the relationships have really grown with them,” Sampson told Rivals in May. “I’ve seen the culture change with the new coaching staff and it looks like they’re getting the program on track.”
In June, Sampson made an official visit to Alabama and State of Florida also make an informal visit to LSU. He followed those trips with an unofficial visit to Texas A&M during the July period.
Florida State always seems to pose the biggest threat to LSU in his hiring, especially in the week before Seminoles made a big push in the finals, but Sampson ultimately took a hit. by the chance to stay home and play for the Tigers.
According to Rivals, 6 feet 4, 181 pounds, Sampson is the 24th ranked player in the country in 2023. He is the 5th ranked player in the nation and the 2nd player from Louisiana. He’s joining LSU’s class as its highest-rated pledge at this point in the cycle, just ahead of fellow high four-star recipients Jalen Brown.
ANALYSIS OF COMMITMENT
A slim but imposing presence positioned outside, Sampson uses quick feet to create separation and possesses strong dribbling skills in 50/50 situations, making the ball move. that’s more like 75/25.
LSU is stacking offensive weapons in 2023 with their roots lying within state borders. Between Sampson and fellow four-star Jalen Brown, Trey Holly and Kaleb JacksonThe tigers will have the speed and ability to bring an explosive attack to Death Valley.
One concern I have with that group is fitness and size as Sampson and Brown are skinny and will need some time to develop physically before competing in the SEC, but both are certainly capable. add the required weight.
As the class of 2023 begins its second season, we can begin to see what the real future will look like in Brian Kelly era.
