LG C2 . OLED TV review

If you’re a fan of OLED TVs – with deep blacks and rich colors perfect for watching movies at home – LG has long been a name worth looking for. LG’s C series sits in the middle of its OLED offerings and is usually a combination of features and price that’s right for most people who want an OLED TV. Now, Samsung, Vizio, and Sony all offer TVs that use screen technology, and all have some compelling reasons to choose them – but that doesn’t make the LG Evo C2 any less awesome.

The C2 makes a great visual, has great software and comes with the latest technology to make gamers happy. There’s really little you won’t like about this TV and plenty that will bring a smile to your face while you’re watching your favorite movies and shows and playing games. While it has become more difficult to decide which OLED to choose, you can’t go wrong with the 2022 Evo C2.

From the moment I turned on C2, I knew I was in for a viewing session. Vibrant reds, yellows, blues and greens bounce off the screen. While watching “Elvis”, the bright colors of the King’s return special really moved. Bold blacks and the resulting contrast make it easy to bring out details in dark scenes – especially useful when watching episodes of “House of the Dragon” or “The Sandman,” both of which often take place. in dimly lit rooms.

I made very few adjustments to get the picture settings I liked best. Its “AI” setting, which adjusts to room conditions, is much more pleasant than Samsung’s QN90B, another new premium TV.

One of the key takeaways against OLED versus LED is the brightness that OLED can achieve, but C2 is still bright enough. When viewing in a well-lit room during the day, I had no problem clarifying details, and it’s noticeably brighter than the LG C9 I got. But the C2 isn’t as bright as some of the newer OLEDs from other companies – one of the few reasons to consider another OLED TV.

C2 offers all the technology you want if you are a gamer with one of the latest game consoles: 120Hz refresh rate, variable refresh rate and automatic low latency mode as well as Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync. And all four of its HDMI inputs support version 2.1, which means they’re capable of providing the smoothest possible gaming experience for those with PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series WILL or premium PC gaming.

But does that really make a difference? Oh, yes. C2 produces the smoothest, most colorful gameplay I’ve seen on Xbox Series X. In Forza Horizon 5, the screen keeps up with racing cars at full speed. In Fortnite, the action is fluid and vibrant. It was almost also visual intensity.

The C2 runs WebOS, one of the best TV operating systems around. And it runs fast on C2: Apps launch quickly and you can load content within seconds. Comparing Samsung’s Tizen OS on the QN90B seems sluggish.

WebOS is also powerful. It has every app I look for. It offers voice control that responds via Google Assistant or Alexa, both built-in. It can also act as a smart home hub to control other connected devices in your home, truly making it the hub of your home.

The C2 is smaller and larger than most other OLED TVs. LG has increased the available size of the C series every year, and the C2 offers the most options. You can choose small words like 42 inches ($1,249.99) or as large as 83 inches ($4,999.99). We tested 65 inch model ($1,899.99). Samsung’s S95B, its OLED option, only in 55 inches ($1,699.99) or 65 inches ($2,099.99).

The stadium stinks

When you spend thousands of dollars on a TV, you should expect a stand that will fit the screen. While the C2’s stand looks sleek with its polished metal finish, it’s not well thought out. First, it’s one of the more complicated stands I’ve installed recently, and it lacks instructions on how to put them together. But worse, it sticks out in front of the TV, so if you use the soundbar, you’ll need to place it a few inches away from the screen. It also only raises the TV 2.25 inches above the surface, which means a soundbar can block the bottom of the picture. If you get a C2, do yourself a favor and get another stand or plan to mount it.

While WebOS itself is a powerful and fast operating system for TVs, LG has cluttered the homepage to make it less useful. It has two rows of content above installed apps, including ads. You can turn off ads if you dig into the system settings, but there’s not much you can do about the home screen layout. All in all, the home screen will benefit from fewer distractions and more focus on what you want to do. I find myself turning to voice control more often than usual to fix a cluttered home screen.

While the sound from the TV is much better than on older models, it still can’t match the picture quality. The built-in 2.2-channel speaker makes it possible to hear dialogue without straining your ears, but the sound lacks a lot of bass. Given the impressive visuals that the display produces, it would be a shame to miss the audio component that creates the all-encompassing experience. Add one soundbar or even better, a full home theater setup to complete home entertainment system.

Competition among OLED TVs has improved, but LG Evo C2 is still among the The best TV you can buy. It has beautiful visuals, the latest in console technology, and good software that runs it all. Plus, you can find it in a size to fit any room.

In some cases, C2 may not be right for you – especially if you have an extremely bright room and you like to watch during the day. But for most people, C2 will be a treat for your eyes every time you sit down to watch.
