Leaker reveals evidence that internal Bloodborne PC build has been around for years
Bloodborne fans have been clamoring to release the classic PS4 game on PC for years, but it looks like the game developers have been playing it on that platform for a while now. Prolific Souls leaker Lan McDonald noticed that the screenshots posted to the Bloodborne Fandom wiki were included there by a From Software employee who apparently took them with a Windows build of the game.
As McDonald notes in the above tweet, the screenshot’s filename indicates that it was taken with the game’s debug camera in a 64-bit Windows build of the game. The said screenshot has been on the game’s wiki for years now. Given the realities of modern game development, it’s no surprise that From Software has a game build that works on PC. Today’s video game consoles are basically just PCs on a technological level. What’s surprising here are the screenshots from Fishing Hamlet, which is the final area of the Bloodborne’s DLC. This suggests that the PC build is the complete retail release of the game, including The Old Hunters, and it’s been around for years now.
Of course, we don’t know how much work will have to be done on that PC build to make it releaseable, but that’s not really the point. Like me written last year, we know that From Software is more than capable of providing acceptable PC versions of the game, it looks like Bloodborne will have to stay on PS4 for the foreseeable future. We can speculate what those reasons are, but ultimately it is beyond our control. That won’t stop hardcore Yharnam heads like me from getting through our fingers in each PlayStation Showcase or press event, but at a certain point, you know not to get your hopes up.
In other news from Software, we recently learned that Elden Ring’s first DLC is called Shadow of Erdtreeand it is still under development.
