Kendall Roy and Cousin Greg’s Watches from ‘Succession’ – The Hollywood Reporter

Kendall Roy’s new watch in the latest and final season of heir hardly a quiet luxury.
The Roy line – who in previous seasons favored watches from more traditional manufacturers like Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe – is now rocking a much more flashy piece on his wrist: the RM 67 Richard Mille’s sport-01 qualifies as a ten-table watch (meaning a watch ostentatious enough to be noticed by people 10 tables away at a restaurant).

The watch was barely there by mistake. Its presence heralds a new chapter in Kendall’s life as he and his brother Roman take the helm of their father’s company, and it was personally picked up by actor Jeremy Strong after an executive by Richard Mille sent it to you. “It’s all my own doing because those details are really important to me, and so I’m proactive in that area,” says Strong. GQ last February, regarding his wardrobe choice for the character. (Among Richard Mille’s ambassadors was Michelle Yeoh, who wore the diamond-encrusted RM 07-02 Sapphire to the 2023 Oscars, where she won the Oscar for best actress.)
Cousin Greg (Nicholas Braun) is also wearing a new watch in season four, an option that Danny Milton, managing editor of watch news website Hodinkee, consulted. “I think Cousin Greg is everyone’s favorite character,” Milton said Hollywood Reporter, “and over a few chats we ended up gifting him a Rolex GMT ‘Pepsi’ on a Jubilee bracelet, a modern GMT ‘Pepsi’.” Greg’s new watch is a follow-up to a Rolex he bought at an overpriced party last season. Milton adds: “I think one of the most interesting Rolex watches right now is the Jubilee ‘Pepsi’ Rolex. “I was just surprised that Greg was able to level up. He’s the type of guy who went from blindly buying a Rolex to actively understanding what he wanted – that’s the kind of thinking behind it.”

Movie and TV show costume designers often don’t choose the watches seen on screen. Milton explains: “The watch is in the sights of the prop master. “Everything anyone can touch on the screen is put there by the prop master or their team, and that’s not an Oscar-recognized role. They are unsung heroes.”
ABOVE heir, the job of choosing the watch belongs to prop master Monica Jacobs. She recently said Mr that she takes pride in getting so much attention to what the show’s characters are wearing on their wrists, even to the point where the watch collector community points out what is seen in the pictures. paparazzi photos taken during filming. “I started to see a lot [people] which is only stimulated by the clock. Like, ‘Oh my god, we see Tom filming and he’s wearing Audemars!’ that is what are they looking at? It was fun to be like I did it,” Jacobs said.

for this season heir, Milton also worked with Jacobs in selecting watches for the PR duo of Carolina (Dagmara Dominczyk) and Hugo (Fisher Stevens). Hugo wears a Panerai Radiomir, while Carolina can be spotted with “a vintage Vacheron Constantin,” Milton says. “It was an asymmetrical watch from the 70s with a Roman dial. It’s really cool.” Throughout the show, devoted watch watchers also recorded that Logan Roy wore watches like the Breguet Classique and Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous, while Shiv Roy mostly wears Cartier Panthères and Pashas while Roman Roy prefers a Rolex (though he was recently seen in IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX (retails for $6,150)

Milton writes Hodinkee’s regular “Watching Movies” column (among other stories on the site), in which he documents watches discovered in the film, such as Ke Huy Quan’s Casio in Everything Anywhere All At Once and Daniel Craig’s Omega Seamaster in Onion.
He also consulted on the watches seen in Confess, Fletch (a Rolex Daytona 1680 sourced from Hodinkee’s vintage store, worn by Jon Hamm) and in the upcoming season two of And just like that. Regarding the latter, he said, “We were recently able to find a vintage Speedmaster for one of the love interests on the show. We chose a watch that has many layers of rust and is very personable. It looks like a well-loved and long-wearing watch.”
Milton also talked to CHEAP about his personal favorite watches that he saw at the recent Watches & Wonders fair in Geneva, Switzerland, and named his favorite movie watch.
Milton’s favorite watch in the movie
“My all-time favorite movie watch is one that has appeared in many movies,” says Milton. “It was the Rolex Red Submariner Reference 1680, Robert Redford’s famous personal watch and he wore it in at least three movies: Candidate, All the President’s Men And electric knight. It’s part of the Red Submariner trilogy. The great thing about that watch is that it is his watch, but he always wears it prominently. And I don’t know this for sure, but he still owns the watch. It’s one of those things that I’ve been waiting for. I imagine at some point, knowing his philanthropic efforts, that it would be something that would hit an auction block at some point. It is one of the legendary watches for me.”

Detecting an Anachronistic Movie Watch
“big short is a humorous film because it takes place during the economic crisis of 2007-2008. But in the movie, Steve Carell’s character wears a ceramic Submariner, and those watches don’t exist yet. It’s one of those movies where if you love watches it can distract you a little bit, you know, from what you’re watching. That watch gets some good screen time. It’s kinda in your face.
Watch unidentifiable famous movies
Asked to name a watch on the screen that sleepers still watch to this day, Milton named the watch that Humphrey Bogart wore in Casablanca. “You can pause that movie as you please,” he said, still unable to identify it. Milton believes the legendary star wore one of the three watches in the film. “It’s two types of Longines or maybe Lord Elgin. It is clearly not a circular watch. It is square or curved in some way. There is a very high possibility that [Bogart’s] let’s see… that he entered Warner Bros. with the Longines on his wrist and, you know, never take it off.”
Milton was also interested in pinpointing the black watch that Dustin Hoffman wore in 1979. Kramer vs Kramer but admits that the answers so far have eluded him. “I’m a ’70s movie buff and any film from that period really speaks to me,” Milton said. “He was wearing what we thought was a black PVD LeJour chronograph. But there are many brands that produce black PVDs from Heuer to LeJour to Porsche Design. So it’s very difficult to narrow the range even though we think we’re pretty close.”

Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master II
“My one big favorite is the gold GMT from Rolex on the Jubilee bracelet just because they haven’t done a gold Jubilee since the 80s and 90s. I love what TAG Heuer did this year. They are celebrating 60lame pants Celebrating Carrera’s anniversary and they launched a 39mm chronograph, which is a refreshed redesign of one of their core models. It’s compact, and I love it. It feels like I’m wearing a vintage watch on my wrist, but when I look at it, it still has the feel of a robust modern watch,” says Milton.

He also noted the number of watch brands launching smaller diameter watches this year. “Paneai has released an entire line of Radiomir 40mm watches. As someone with smaller wrists, that’s a much more appealing offer to me. [And] Tudor released the 37mm Black Bay 54 this year, which is a watch that I think no one asked for or knew they wanted. And all of a sudden, we all put it on our wrists and said, ‘Well, a 37mm watch based on a heritage diver from the past. Surprised.'”

Another trend? Salmon dial watch. “Salmon dials are having a serious moment. This year, you have seen Bulgari make one, while the Chopard Alpine Eagle with the LUC movement inside and the salmon dial is a truly beautiful piece.”
