Kanye West was in Tom Cruise’s Crazy Celebrity Zone that it was renamed Ye Bat-shit Crazy Celebrity Zone. I assume you have now read the claims against the sign, and found that Jaylen Brown and Aaron Donald – like most other sane people/companies – cut ties with Donda Sports. Some people will say “too little, too late”, while Carron J. Phillips would say “never should have,” but still livelihoods are at stake because they have been selling snake oil for $15,000 a year for tuition.
Donda Academy was closed for the school year, effective immediately, about two seconds on Wednesday, but announced it would reopen around midnight. Who knows what that means. Despite that, the future of high school athletes who signed on to pursue their hopes of a professional career at the “school” is now dwindling. The New York Times reported that two tournaments slated to host the popular “academy” have removed the team from the roster and now parents of students are considering options not affiliated with West.
Before I continue, I put “academy” in quotes because normally you want your school to be accredited – and have a campus. This line from the NYT story gave me goosebumps.
“[Ye] used its star power – and its promise to invite players across the country to take part in famous games – to attract elite talent from across the country to an apartment complex that caters to the sport. their basketball and an unaccredited curriculum built on online learning. “
So Donda Academy is like a school like Jay-Z’s Hard Knocks School? Understood. At least the transfer wasn’t an issue for the two top-rated prospects, Robert Dillingham and AJ Johnson. Overtime Elite, the basketball development team with big-name backers like Drake, Jeff Bezos, and several dozen NBA players, is expected to go after Dillingham, who has now committed to Kentucky and undeclared Johnson.
However, the future could be much more bleak for the less-foreseeing players. Diana Cooper and Vantik Loury, mother of Donda enrolling JJ Taylor, who is ranked 45th in basketball prospects in 2023, and Davius Loury, 145th on Rivals.com, expressed concern to the Times about Ye, but have not yet spoken to their children. . (My guess is that that has changed since the news broke.) Both JJ and Davius moved from Chicago to study at the Simi Valley campus/apartment in California, and now the class is oscillating between continuing and being canceled as much as the founder.
An email was sent to parents of the school’s students Thursday saying “Donda Academy will close for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year effective immediately … THERE IS NO SCHOOL TOMORROW.”
If that isn’t the most depressing school cancellation announcement I’ve ever read. Be that as it may, the never-ending snow day was cut short after an announcement overruling the previous one was sent out at about midnight Wednesday, per TMZ.
Partially read email:
“Dear Parents and Staff,
Join us tomorrow morning to worship the return of Donda Academy. With the help of our parents and community, we’re back with a vengeance!
Donda’s children will change the world.
Sorry for the late email!
See you soon bright tomorrow! “
It scares me when I think about the online curriculum these kids are learning/exposure considering the whole thing sounds like Trump University mixed with Camp Nowhere. Only instead of emotionless kids and spoiled kids losing money, opportunities, and growth, are real-life kids with (hopefully still) bright futures left wondering what to do. what’s next. And they should ask themselves that, because dropping out is the only logical next step.
We all wanted to believe that we would be immune to Ye’s recruitment, but his immense popularity and cultural status (and, unfortunately, still possible) is extremely appealing to the public. with young people who are easy to impress, so it’s easy to see why they signed on the dotted line. (I reserve the right to change my mind if it is discovered that the head of Donda Sports and has intelligence problems, Antonio Brown, was tagged along in the indoor selection tours.)
A large portion of the US population has been unable to separate the man from his music while he is flirting with aborted. Ye has been allowed to continue as an icon even after the torrent of opinions and dangerous outbursts, and it’s gotten to the point where he’s benefited from suspicion despite the entire panel. flashing warning signs.
There’s about 1,700 morals to this story, but I’m not going to tell a bunch of kids “I told you so” (I can tell that to their parents), so I’ll just let it be. at, “Please, fuck it off, Kanye.”
