NASCAR Xfinity Series Production Alliance Group 300

Driving a Toyota Supra #20 for Joe Gibbs Racing, John Hunter Nemechek took his third win of the NASCAR Xfinity Series on the Production Alliance Group 300 on Sunday at Auto Club Speedway.

Nemechek, who almost missed out on winning the Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona, led the top 49 laps at ACS. He won a head-to-head matchup taking the lead for the last time after restarting in Round 139 of 150 and holding off Sam Mayer until he took the checkered flag.

The 25-year-old marks his third NASCAR Xfinity Series Win after beating Mayer 0.761 seconds in an action-packed race.

Speaking to the media after the race, John Hunter Nemechek praised his entire Joe Gibbs #20 Racing team and said:

“Oh my god, all these 20 teams gave me a race car. A big thank you to everyone who worked on this team of 20.”

He continued:

“I think a lot of people were skeptical (leader) Ben (Beshore) would come down from the Cup Series, and let him be on the box and maybe establish the relationship that I had with him, that was it. That’s so great. I’ve worked with a lot of people on the team over the last few years and the team sucks – they’ve got the job done as of tonight.”

Meanwhile, Mayer scored the second P2 goal of his career. He was followed by Justin Allgaier in third, Chandler Smith in fourth and Josh Berry completing the top five.

Cole Custer, the defending champion of the event, may have the fastest car on Sunday night. He won the first two stages but finished in P27 after having a flat tire and crashing into a wall in Round 91.
