Jan. 6 Organizer Ali Alexander Blames Turning Point USA for Capitol Riot
January 6. “Stop the Steal” Organizer Ali Alexander overthrow the right-wing activist Charlie Kirk under the bus in his time closed deposition with the House Select Committee investigating the Capitol riots more than a year ago, the newly released transcripts reveal.
In documents posted Tuesday, Alexander isn’t afraid to blame everyone but himself during a meeting with House investigators — and cites sudden amnesia for memory loss. His account was clouded about the events leading up to that day.
He blamed Kirk and his conservative youth organization, Turning Point USA, for funding the rioters’ travel from several points around the country to Washington, DC, where they proceeded. violently broke into the Parliament building and assaulted dozens of police officers in the building. process.
He cites the group’s bus network that transported the activists on January 6 to Washington — and exempts himself from all responsibility for bringing hundreds of rioters to the scene.
“I think to the best of my knowledge it was run through Turning Point in the United States,” Alexander said, according to the transcript. He denies any involvement, except that TPUSA is using his “famous” Stop the Steal brand.
He went on to answer “yes” to a representative of the committee on 6 January saying: “It sounds like you are saying that to the extent the bus was paid, except for one that may have you may already have to Stop Theft, your participation in the bus is essentially to advertise Turn Point’s bus offering.
But he didn’t stop there — on Tuesday night, Alexander doubled down on Kirk’s guilt during the riot.
He told The Daily Beast: “I wonder how Charlie Kirk got away with all the surveillance when he made us drive all those people on buses he sponsored. “Fortunately, he is losing donors and popularity while gaining weight. Disgusting!”
After the events of January 6, Kirk deleted a tweet in which he advertised that “over 80 buses full of patriots” had been sent to Washington, DC, on the Turn Point USA coin. In response to Kirk’s attempt to cover up his tracks, Alexander told The Daily Beast that “TPUSA has turned its back on the electoral integrity movement,” while hinting that there is much more to come in regards to the election. Kirk’s involvement.
A spokesperson for Turn Point USA did not respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment on this story. (Notably, when asked about Alexander in depositionKirk pleads Thursday.)
Since being deposed, Alexander’s hatred for Turn Point USA has grown.
In a series of messages sent to telegram In late November, the far-right activist made even more explosive statements against Turning Point USA, including allegations that the student group engaged in a “systematic pattern of concealment.” cover up sex scandals with non-profit money.”
“Parents’ class-action lawsuit could take down TPUSA,” he added about the group of students he calls “Satan’s human-trafficking TPUSA.”
Elsewhere in his testimony, Alexander often said that he did not “recall” some of the activities he performed—or that the content he published encouraged violence.
“’We have to punch the left nose. You have to fight. They will kill us,’” said a committee member January 6, rereading an old comment on Alexander’s social media. They then asked the far-right activist: “Explain how this statement discourages violence?”
Alexander claims to be ignorant — and again redirects blame.
“I don’t remember making that statement on Periscope,” he said. “It’s really like a pun on Representative Maxine Waters or Speaker Nancy Pelosi that I’m playing with.”
In a Telegram call with supporters on Tuesday night, Alexander announced the transcript showing his clear victory over the January 6 Committee and called Kirk a “damn traitor.”
“You can’t kill me!” he shouted. “I raped the Selection Committee on January 6, legally, a perfectly legal rape.”
