Iran has the right to free speech, but the protests happening now are unacceptable “acts of chaos”, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Thursday, adding that he had ordered an investigation. The death of a young woman sparked bloody protests.
“Rights issues must be viewed worldwide with a single standard,” Raisi told a news conference on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
“There is freedom of speech in Iran … but chaotic actions are unacceptable.”
