Erm, so… Have you played yet Hypnospace outlaw? If so, great; if not, here’s a quick primer:
Hypnospace Outlaw is a simulation game created by Jay Tholen, Corey Cochran and Xalavier Nelson Jr. create. In it you play as a rule enforcer on “Hypnospace,” a ’90s-style Internet version that takes place while you sleep. In your role, you come across a teenage boy named ZANE_ROCKS_14 who repeatedly breaks the rules about piracy and harassment because he really wants the world to know about his favorite bands. his own, his terrible self-made comic about him as a superhero, and his makeup girlfriend. He’s a bit toerag.
Anyway, ZANE_ROCKS_14 is now ZANE_ROCKS_36 (even though he actually 37)and he’s releasing a game called Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Murderer’s Vengeance, and we interviewed him. Sweet!
Zane Lofton is a mystery wrapped in a mystery wrapped in a really cool guy. The dictionary definition of Zane Lofton is just someone doing a really sick somersault on a skateboard painted with flames. Zane Lofton is what we all aspire to be. But just who To be Zane Lofton?
We managed to get an interview with this elusive, controversial character to try to answer the question on everyone’s lips, asking Zane about his time on Hypnospace, the love of his life. him with the metal band Seepage and his new game: Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Murderer’s Vengeanceis racing for the “longest title of 2022” with Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth and Demon Slayer – Kimetsu No Yaiba – Hinokami Chronicles.

Nintendo Life: What was your main inspiration for Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Murderer’s Vengeance?
thanks…my main inspiration for Slayers X is the manga that I’ve been drawing over and over since I was 14… all in a notebook and the most complex comic of all time with over 100 cores things… but there’s also action and some of that is really messed up. part a guy explodes and I see his eyeballs fly out… not for kids…. it’s about X Slayers… started by Hackblood master Mikey Sykey who started it all and unlocked the power when he found Talisman hackblood. he’s also the lead singer of the band Seepage… in short, I’d say the inspiration is my Slayers X comics and great music like Seepage
Can you guide us through that title?
Yes. first… Slayers X is the name of the comic…. The X Slayers are a group of elite heroes who meet in a secret underground base called The Steel Sewer… located under the city of Boise. they fight Psyko SINdikate… led by the evil The Sipher…. anyway Terminal means “final destruction” or something like that and Aftermath is like after a pin bomb goes off and the roads crack and smoke everywhere… that’s great. “Vengance of The Slayer” is the last and is about my character, the last X Slayers because Psykos killed all the others and this is my revenge…. I will get them back. recap… I named it because of my comic book name, because it’s like after an explosion, and because, I’m the last X Slayer.
How do you feel about the phrase “boomer shooter”?
there are loud flippin explosions at every level so it’s not wrong but i’ve never heard it before
What engine did you use for SX:TA:VOTS?
it is based on the game engine of Kataklysm from 1995 by Killbox studios. that game was awesome so in 1998 I started making maps and my best friend Adam Chase in high school was a nerd so he programmed to help me put Custom enemies on…. I’ve been relearning NeoVision 3D between night shifts to make them look even better… Adam Chase is helping finish it because he promised when we were 18 years old.
Have you worked with Seepage to showcase their music?
yeah… great thing they saw ppl mocking my fan art and I put Mikey Sykey (lead singer) in my comics and he noticed and said I could use the songs his singing and he will even do voiceovers. the situation was reversed….they tried to take me down but I only got stronger
What’s the gaming scene like in Boise, Idaho? Do you have a lot of local support?
i don’t know… I have a kid and I’m the manager of the large Dollar$aver in south central Boise so I don’t have time to hang out with the nerds… I work shifts in the yard so I sleep or hang out with the little guy when they have meetings
a rich british guy is about to publish this game… you can tell he’s loaded just by talking to him
Will you attend any game events with Slayers X, like GDC and Gamescom?

True Zane_Rocks_14 fans will remember you from the good old days of Hypnospace. What would you like to say to these longtime fans?
Ever since they put up that Hypno space archive, I’ve received a lot of fan mail but sometimes I think they’re not serious and are fake fans… you know, my comic drawing when I was 15 years old up there… that’s the origin of Slayers X… the source of it all….it’s a bit cheesy in a wonderful way… but for the real X Slayers out there, I say keep rocking… and if you’re so confused and twisted with this world you can go to the Steel Gate and you’ll find your people
Rumors are now resurfacing on gamer forums about you having a “fake girlfriend” in your teens – and the girlfriend in question is actually you. What do you say about these allegations?
Stupid thsts… have you ever heard of a “prank”? no one fakes having GF unless they’re lame. I’m seeing how far I can go with my jokes and that’s why it took 20 years for people to notice…. I’ve been fooling people for 20 years. next.
Who would you say in the gaming industry has a “Got Game” and who is a “Way Lame”?
Killbox & Kataklysm 1, 3 and 4 already have the game. Kataklysm 2 Microtrooper sucks tho no one can play it because it needs an expensive 3D card
Steve & Debra Doe White sucks and sucks because they just make crap games that no one really likes but fake as they like it because it’s supposed to be smart but it’s boring.
Did your life change much when you were about to become a world famous game developer?
i have a babysitter 2 afternoons a week so i can work on this game and i have a lot of new X Slayers in Steel Sewer chat group now…. apart from my kids, they are my best friends and make amazing works of art…. I can’t believe there are so many people participating in Slayers X, my dream has come true…. hope i can drop Dollar$aver and debunk my boss bwl

what most the sick and twisted thing you put into the game?
The Psykos broke into my secret base and broke the Hackblood pipes and made the Hackblood leak into the sewers making the faeces come to life..
and they shoot corn at you… so you’re basically fighting your own puppy
There is also a gun called Explosive Sludge Launcher that shoots sewage cans that will blow up enemies if it hits them but it also drops sewage which causes rats to come and help you against enemies..
and you can talk to the rats….
There’s a guy trying to take credit for Slayers X named Jay Tholen, who actually seems a bit jealous of the loser. Have you contacted him yet?
i think he’s a fantasy fan who thinks he’s part of Big Z Studios (my game studio) because he keeps pretending he knows about how we make games but he always gets it wrong. bwl… I don’t want to be mean to him tho in case he’s messing around in his head

Hypnospace Outlaw is now available on Switch. Slayers X: Terminal Aftermath: Vengance of the Slayer still doesn’t have a release date, even though the Steam page says “5OON”, so… 5oon.
