Halo InfiniteThe game’s launch doesn’t go as planned, but developer 343 Industries is promising improvements in the near-term in terms of content release cadence, and this starts with the biggest update ever. Today’s game, the Winter update, is out now.
In one blog post343 thanked fans for their support over the past year after the game was released, acknowledging that the studio knew the launch was “definitely not the smoothest or fastest ride.”
“The winter update marks a huge step forward for the game and our studio, but this is only the first step in that development,” the team said. “The team is actively working on key player experience priorities in the game to address feedback areas, and we’re targeting another game update before the end of the year.”
In 2023, Halo Infinite will have another update, Part 3: Echoes in, March. And in general, fans can expect “shorter seasons, a more regular stream of content, and bigger things to come,” the studio said.
Previously, 343 said it was intentionally slow future updates for Halo Infinite so it can focus on setting the foundation for future growth. Recently, Xbox boss Matt Booty said the launch of Halo Infinite was similar to a runner tripping and falling at the finish line.
In terms of “greater things to come”, it is believed that Certain ties are said to be creating an ambitious new mode for Halo Infinite that will at some point go down the road.
The Halo Infinite Winter update adds a number of features and content, including a Forge mode in beta, match-based XP, new battle passes, more multiplayer maps, and cooperative multiplayer battles. What Halo Infinite won’t get, however, is the local split-screen campaign co-op. 343 cancel couch cooperation so it can focus on building out Halo Infinite’s live service features.
