Giuffre sued Prince Andrew in US court, alleging that she was trafficked by Epstein and Maxwell for him. She also testified that they had sex in London when she was 17 and a minor under US law.
Prince Andrew has denied these allegations and continues to do so. He has not been charged with a crime, but has withdrawn from royal duties. Prince Andrew was also stripped of his military rank after being publicly criticized for his $16.3 million settlement.
He paid to settle a civil sexual assault case with Ms Giuffre.
The photo that was used as a key claim against Andrew shows him putting his arm around Giuffre’s waist and Maxwell standing next to them.
In an interview with BBC in 2019, Andrew questioned the authenticity of the photo, asserting that he had never met Giuffre. Andrew also stated that the photo could not have been taken in London because he was wearing travel clothes.
“It’s a picture of a picture of a photo… No one can prove whether the photo has been edited or not,” Andrew told the BBC at the time.
