Genshin Impact’s 3.0 update is a big one. Titled The Morn a Thousand Roses Brings, patch 3.0 opens Sumeru and introduces Genshin’s seventh and final element, Dendro. It’s not entirely new, as Dendro has been around since the days of Genshin (some Hilichurl mages can use Dendro) – but this marks the first time Travelers (and according to the extension, us) can use this element.
Release date
Genshin Impact 3.0 releases on August 24. The pre-install is generally available and will likely be available online a day before its release, August 23. With the preset, players can log in. as soon as the maintenance for the new patch is completed.
Patch 3.0 will last five weeks, instead of the usual six.
New element: Dendro
Dendro, according to a Sumeru’s teaser preview, there are three main terms attached: catalysis, intelligence, and life. Mihoyo has so far revealed three reactions of Dendro with other elements: Burning, Blooming, and Catalysis.
- Bloom (Dendro and Hydrogen) is inspired by real-life flower blooms and is a combination of the healing qualities of Hydrogen and the catalytic powers of Dendro. Blooming will spawn Dendro cores, which will eventually explode with AoE Dendro damage.
- Burgeon: If the Dendro cores generated from the Bloom reaction enter the Pyro or Electro, the Burgeon reaction is activated. This can increase explosive or activating AoE Dendro damage Hyperbloom– a reaction that can turn Dendro cores into sharp shots to track enemies.
- Catalysts (Dendro and Electro) does not have a strong practical inspiration like Bloom. It’s a combination of Electro’s qualities and Dendro’s keyword of Wisdom. Catalyze also has a strong lore base, as it is clearly integral to Sumeru’s history. Catalyze applies a Quicken effect, increasing the target’s damage after the next Dendro or Electro damage (called Transmitted and Avaggrate).
As the trailer explains, there’s a new system where certain underworld features and enemies will change state depending on the element you apply to it, resulting in different interactions between players and features are mentioned. In combat, if you defeat an enemy in a specific state, you can even get special rewards.
In the same trailer, players can see the Traveler hitting the mushroom with Dendro, causing it to bloom. The Traveler can then use the mushroom as a trampoline – an act that shows Dendro’s potential to be an interesting tool in exploring the underworld.
Traditionally in the community of Genshin Impact, leaks from the 3.0 beta have spread online – including full list of rumored Dendro reactions. While most of the information in this leak is basically confirmed in trailers and press releases, with everything that comes from rumors, treat it like salt in the water. We will have to wait until version 3.0 comes out to confirm the functionality of Dendro.
Install Sumeru
Sumeru is land of wisdom, scholars and Dendro Archon. Players may know Sumeru as where Lisa, a Mondsadt character we meet at the beginning of the game, went to school.

Sumeru’s plot
A Sumeru trailer reveals that Dendro Archon, the Great Lord Rukkhadevata, is directly connected to Irminsul, the great tree whose roots form a vein. However, she disappeared in a disaster several hundred years ago. The sages eventually found a reincarnated version of Archon – Lord Kusanali – and brought her back to Sumeru.
The 3.0 trailer also introduces a festival called Sabzeruz and the birthday of Archon reborn, where Nilou – a character chosen to follow the path of art and dance in a country that values wisdom – will perform. an important dance. There’s also a dark villain trying to bring back a god – hinted to have been Dendro Archon in the past – that promises “retribution” to all others. At the end of the teaser, a segment of the Doctor stands in front of a giant burning tree – possibly Irminsul – and Collei, a Sumerian character, awakens from a dream.
Another problem that occurs in Sumeru is something called Wither. As the name suggests, the Wither regions look lifeless and the phenomenon is believed to originate from the depths of the world. The Rangers, as commented by new Sumeru character Tighnari in the trailer, will likely be fighting in the withering regions for quite some time.
Playable Sumeru characters
Tighnari and Collei’s abilities have yet to be officially revealed. But reliable leakers, like Honey Hunter, have released what their kits are rumored to be. We won’t go into the actual details of their rumored kits here, but will provide an overview.
Tighnari and Collei is the first banner of 3.0, in addition to the back Zhongli banner. Dori is on 3.0’s second set of banners – Ganyu and Kokomi running again – which will appear in the second half of the event. You can also get a free Collei from the Graven Innocence event.
Tighnari (Boy, Five Stars, Dendro)
- Story: A young researcher with a warm heart. He is the Forest Observer and Collei’s teacher.
- Skill: Dendro AoE damage dealer. The elemental explosion allows Tighnari to launch six Dendro attacks to track enemies.
Collei (Boy, Four Stars, Dendro)
- Story: Ranger trainee under Tighnari.
- Capacity: Archer with a set similar to Amber’s, but Dendro instead of Pyro. She has a Dendro boomerang-like attack that can affect multiple enemies. She also has Amber’s Baron Bunny-esque toy called Cuielen-Anbar which, when exploded, damages Dendro.
Dori (Claymore, Four-star, Electro)
- Story: A traveling merchant who seems even shorter than Diona
- Ability: Her kit is more geared towards being a support. Burst will connect to a character and give them HP recovery, energy regeneration, and electrical application.

- Photo challenge: Players can take pictures of forest animals in Sumeru and get rewards.
- Combat challenge: The new Electro Regisvine and boss Dendro Fungi are a chicken-horse-something hybrid.
- Time Racing Challenge: Players race through the landscape in a timed challenge to collect gold coins.
- Fight: Part I of this catalog features missions titled “The Wonderful Fungi of Teyvat” but also sees the player battling Ruin Scouts (mechanized jellyfish-like enemies).
- Reward: This event specifically gives Dendro the new 4-star Collei and crown, which among the usual rewards are primogens and other character-leveling resources.
Tablet analysis
These are regular timed combat challenges with battle score multipliers for various selected battle conditions. There are also character spells, e.g. your current active character can get a 110% Hydro damage increase. Rewards include primogens and regular resources like EXP books, gold, character upgrade materials, etc.

Fayz test
This one is a bit new, unlike the Lost Riches we’ve seen in previous Genshin updates, in that it’s a combat challenge where the player can get potions and deal a lot of damage to enemies with their weaknesses.
