FAU HC explains how Owls shut down K-State on final possession

Florida Atlantic Owls No. 9 beat Kansas State No. 3 on Saturday, continuing their incredible record to advance to Round 4 of the Finals.

The FAU denied the Wildcats and scorer Markquis Nowell took one last look at the basket with seven ticks remaining to secure victory. After the biggest win in show history, FAU head coach Dusty May revealed to NCAA.com Andy Katz how his team contains K-State stardom when that matters most.

“Our guys are pit bulls,” May said. “He’s seen so many different bodies, so many different looks. Their determination, their solidarity made it happen.”

The FAU closed all windows and doors, cutting off Nowell as he crossed halfway. Nowell threw the basketball to Ismael Massoud, whom the Owl defenders immediately surrounded until the whistle blew.
