For most of my adult life, I’ve used the same liquid shampoo and conditioner without ever giving it a second thought. My hair is clean enough already, so I simply assume there’s not much value in trying any other shampoo as most of them feel pretty much the same when I use it. However, as thick plastic bottles started to pile up, I wanted to see if there was a way to reduce my own environmental impact while maintaining the same level of cleanliness. The Ethique Shampoo Bar clearly demonstrated that the answer to that question is yes.

The Ethique Shampoo Bar exactly what it sounds like: instead of being liquid, like most traditional shampoos, Ethique is a solid bar. So, as opposed to just pouring shampoo into your hands and rubbing your hair, you wet the bar and rub your hair and then rub it gently with your hands. While the transition from liquid to bar is fairly easy, my biggest worry is whether the bar shampoo will work in a way that feels more like a more traditional formula.

Ethique Heali Kiwi Shampoo Bar

After using it a number of times, I can confidently say that the Ethique shampoo bar not only stands up to any competition, but in many ways it really surpasses them. The biggest difference (aside from clarity) is the feel of the stick when you use it. I tried Heali Kiwi Shampoo Bar designed for dry scalp and the texture of the bar itself feels nice on my hands and hair. Even though it’s a bar, I can easily foam all my hair and cover all of my hair in just moments. The soap feels gentle on the hair and washes away easily without leaving a greasy residue.

Ethique Solid Conditioner Bar

Also, my normally dry scalp has been completely free of scabs, dandruff or itching since switching to the diet. With a unique combination of Neem oil, Karanja coconut and lemon as well as ground oatmeal, the bar has helped keep my hair and scalp healthy. This is only further supported by the addition of Ethique Conditioner Bar. I’m not exaggerating when I say that after using the Conditioner Bar, my hair has become bouncier and softer than ever in my entire life.
