Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves trailer features a joke, a fat dragon

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thievesthis fun, gooey cube, starring Chris Pine, adaptation of the world’s most beloved board-based role-playing game, hits theaters in a few months — on March 31, to be exact. — and there’s a new trailer to whet our appetites.
The new trailer wisely starts off with Michelle Rodriguez as a total villain as Holga the Barbarian, while Chris Pine’s troubadour quips from the sidelines. Regé-Jean Page, as Xenk the Paladin, is on a mission-hot guy-no humor. There are some bad red wizards, cool effects, even more jokes compared to previous trailers and some of the same monsters, including a more gratuitous look at that fat red dragon. (Looks like this man.)
Honesty among lies it looks like it’s on purpose satisfying D&D fans with as many references and creature appearances as possible while hitting a sly, mocking, self-aware tone. Realistic play scene, has changed the profile and popularity of D&D in recent years. It was directed and written by Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who made the great action comedy. Game night, which bodes well for its ability to bring laughter, if nothing else. But it comes at a difficult time for Dungeons & Dragons franchise, as publisher Wizards of the Coast struggles to regain a fan base shunned by a series of PR blunders over potential changes to its Open Game License, which it Okay forced to scrap.
Could late-stage Hugh Grant be interestingly controversial to win back some of that goodwill? We’ll find out in March.
