After weeks of anticipation, finally Bungie introduce players with trailer for the latest destiny 2 season on Tuesday morning: Season of Seraph. Season starts on Tuesday and will run from December 6 to February 28, 2023 and releases the light expansion.
Season of the Seraph will see players allied with the Bray family once again for support Warmind, a super powerful AI turned off two years ago during Arrival Season. To help awaken the Warmind and transform its identity into an Exo body (seems like a bad idea, but OK), the Guardians will need to go “behind the enemy’s front lines” in the operation. New Heist Battlegrounds.
This activity seems to have some slight stealth elements, as players will need to avoid turrets as they infiltrate some of Hive’s facilities. The most interesting aspect of this activity, however, seems to be that at least one of the scenarios takes place on Mars, in an area that was once removed from the game with the Beyond Light expansion. At the time of this writing, it is unclear whether players will be able to roam freely around Mars, or whether Braytech facilities will only be available during pairing missions.
Seraph’s Season also includes a Strange Quest for the first time since witch queen expansion. The mission is called “Seraph’s Shield” and will send players into space, similar to the Deep Stone Crypt raid. Players can return each week for the next three weeks and will eventually unlock the Revision Zero Exotic weapon on December 20, just in time for the holidays. After the player receives the weapon, they will be able to find and activate various Exotic Catalysts; Normally, Exotics only have a single Catalyst, often adding a new perk.
This season also saw the return of The Dawning Christmas activism and the annual achievement hunt Moments of Victory. Players will also be able to purchase some Assassin’s Creed crossover armor in the store. Mages can dress up as Ezio while Hunters can dress up as Kassandra. Titans, of course, get Eivor-inspired armor.
Finally, it’s worth noting that players will only have about 12 weeks to complete all that Season of the Seraph has to offer — and that includes unlocking all the elusive weapon models. Assuming this will work like previous years, all seasonal content will disappear after the light Expansion release on February 28.
Season of the Seraph also launches with a new dungeon this Friday, but Bungie has yet to reveal any details about the dungeon. It’s a separate purchase and won’t end with the rest of the season.
