Destiny 2 PSA: You no longer have to worry about that tough champion quest requirement

Bungie is removing the requirement to complete a difficult, time-consuming goal for this week The season of looting story quests in Fate 2. The objective of the quest for “beat 50 champions“will autocomplete for the player, allowing them to proceed with the quest much easier.

Bungie made the announcement on Twitter, saying that the 50 Champion goal was too hard for some players. Judging by player feedback, that’s certainly the case, as Champions mostly appear in high-level content and in relatively low numbers. Even the difficulty of Legendary Lost Sectors or Nightfall Strikes includes only a handful of champions, forcing players to run a large number to complete the requirement. Champions are also harder to kill than normal enemies and often require special seasonal weapon mods to defeat, adding a skill barrier to the claim.

The move is a pretty big one, not least because the goal has disappointed a lot of players, especially Destiny 2’s more casual fans. This week’s story mission has opened up a new chapter. major reveal for Season of Plunder’s plot, providing new information about the season’s main characters, Mithrax and Eido, and pushing the game’s overall plot towards the next expansion, The lightin February.

Looks like Bungie made the 50 Champion claim with premium seasonal content. Players quickly discover that Champions killed during Expeditions’ seasonal run are each counted for the required three kills, rather than just one per person. The problem is, champions are few and far between expeditions – you might see three champions on good runs, and only one or no champions on bad runs.

The best way to complete the claim is in the Master Difficulty version of the Ketchcrash seasonal activity, which is full of Champion enemies and counts each defeated Champion as eight towards the claim. The 50 Champion requirement can be completed in a Master Ketchcrash operation, but many casual players have a harder time since Master Ketchcrash can very difficult. It carries both a very high Power level of 1,600 and does not offer teaming, which means players need to find their own group of five other players to join it.

With the requirement removed, it’s much easier for players to advance through Destiny 2’s current story. Pirate themed loot season much lighter than The spooky and chaotic season of Hauntingbut as this week revealed, still carries some heavy themes and high stakes.
